The Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 8:

The Comfy Chair (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
If things stay the same, this will be Coach Skrabby's easiest game of the year. If the 'Morons hit the waiver wire and fill up their roster, though, I may have to switch my prediction. Everyone has been sitting on the Chair this season.

Lightning (-1) vs. Yuengling Brewers
The Bolts just took over as the top scoring team in the league and have averaged almost 100 points per game over the last two weeks. That trend looks to continue. But the Brewers will have a chance to pull an upset if Tom Brady throws all five of his TD passes to Benjamin Watson.

ray ray haw (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
None of the Vipers are on a bye this week, so they'll need a different excuse for losing. How about not playing Brandon Jacobs? That's a good one. Or sitting out both of the Cleveland WRs against St. Louis?

Misfits, Inc. (-1) vs. Rough Riders
The Riders will again make the list of most losses in a row if they can't get a win against 'FitzCorp this week. The first-place-in-the-league, LaDanian-Tomlinson-back-from-a-bye 'FitzCorp. Should I start updating the records page now?

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Predacons
The Preds picked up their second win last week, but the Marauders will probably have a full lineup of starters to oppose them. Unless Matt Schaub gets hurt during the first quarter of his game again. Even then, Coach Hoss' team can still score in the seventies.

And the game of the week...

Renegades (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Last week's high- and low-scoring teams meet in the GoTW. Coach Val looks sneaky good again, but this one will depend on which 'Bums team shows up. And if either coach checks their lineup before game time.

Good luck this week.

  1. How could the Predacons be 6/6 in week 7 voting while the Comm-nosticator was 5/6? I know that in the name of objectivity you try to separate your multiple roles in this league by taking on a third-person PoV when referring to the Predacons in the weekly preview; but do you really have completely separate personalities inside your psyche that each pick the games differently?

What if the Predacons tried to swindle the Lightning in a trade proposal and the Lightning accepted without doing their due dilligence. Would the Commish step in and disallow the trade on the grounds that it is grossly unbalanced and issue sanctions against the Predacons for trying such a dirty trick? How deep does this divide really run?

  2. The Comm-nosticator makes his picks on Wednesday or Thursday every week, while the Predacons usually vote during the weekend. Many things change in our league in those few days.

For the record, I would disallow any trade that is grossly unbalanced. The Commissioner looks at things from a league-wide perspective and tries to do what's best for the 3FL as a whole.
