3FL Notes: S16: Week 12 Preview

Two more teams punched their ticket to the postseason during our lowest scoring week of the year, but that still leaves five spots open with only two weeks to go. And all of our teams are still mathematically eligible for the postseason (unlike the Cleveland Browns).

It's going to be an exciting week full of drama and turkey!

Week 11 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: the HAW - 104 points

Player MVPs:
Rob Kelley (RB/Was/tH) - 31 points

Week 12 Information

Thursday Early: Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions
Thanksgiving Late: Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
Thanksgiving Night: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday Night: Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos
Monday Night: Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles

Skipping a set of byes this week. Thank goodness.

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 12:

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Renegades
The Comm-nosticator predicted the late season rise of the Renegades and I'm not backing off yet. They've won three in a row and have given themselves a chance at a postseason berth after an awful start to the year. The CAPS and Tom Brady have different plans, but this one is going to be super close.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
The top in the West meets the top in the South in this one. The 'Bums have already qualified for the playoffs and have won three of their last four, but PEP looks to have the upper hand this week thanks to the matchups. We'll know a lot more after Thanksgiving afternoon. You know, before the second round of turkey.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
The Preds keep finding a way to lose this season. They are guaranteed to finish no better than .500 even if they win out, and they are definitely not guaranteed a playoff spot. The Stompers have lost two in a row and could really use a division win here. Starting a full lineup would help.

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
This battle is pretty much a must win for the Brew Crew. It's a divisional matchup and they're currently in last place with only two weeks to go. They've also scored the fewest points in the league so far. So why would things turn around this week?

Misfits, Inc. (-1) vs. Lightning
FitzCorp may have scored their lowest total this year, but don't feel bad for them just yet. They've already qualified for the playoffs and are still averaging triple digit points per week. The Bolts need a win here to avoid the division sweep but the matchups aren't looking good for that.

And the game of the week...

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Marauders
A great week of games is highlighted by what should be an amazing matchup. Starters are spread throughout the holiday week with it all coming down to Aaron Rodgers on MNF. Can he finish the comeback and send the Marauders to their second loss in a row?

Happy Thanksgiving and good luck this week!

3FL Notes: S16: Week 11 Preview

Our first playoff spot was finally claimed last week as the Marauders glided to an easy victory. After another triple digit performance, Misfits, Inc. has already scored more points this season than any team has in our 15+ year history. And we still have three weeks to go.

Week 10 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Misfits, Inc. - 127 points (3rd all-time)

Player MVPs:
Ezekiel Elliott (RB/Dal/MI) - 38 points
DeMarco Murray (RB/Ten/MI) - 27 points
Ben Roethlisberger (QB/Pit/L) - 26 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 35/60 - 58.33%
League Voting: 28/60 - 46.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 32/60 - 53.33%

Week 11 Information

Thursday Night: New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday Night: Green Bay Packers @ Washington Redskins
Monday Night: Houston Texans @ Oakland Raiders
Bye Week: Atlanta, Denver, NY Jets, San Diego

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 11:

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Every team in the South is 4-6 (and 1-1 against each other), so the winner here will take over the lead in the division through Thanksgiving day. A lot of it will come down to managerial decisions with projections being too close to call. It's going to be interesting to watch those benches.

Predacons (-1) vs. Baltimorons
The Preds dropped another one last week and have a losing record once again. These two have scored the exact same number of points so far this season (866), but Coach Sinkerbeam has an edge this week thanks to the matchups. Although those projections don't seem to mean much to him lately...

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Lightning
Don't sleep on the Bolts. After a tough start to the season they have won their last two and are only a game away from being in the thick of the playoff race. The CAPS are headed in the other direction and could really use a win in this divisional matchup. Big Ben vs. Brady will tell the story.

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
I know that FitzCorp is averaging more than 105 points per week while SpiVi is hovering under 80, but between byes and PED suspensions this one is looking like the upset special of the month. Or maybe not. Either way it will be close, with the final coming before any prime time games begin.

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Renegades
You'd think that the game between the first and last teams in the standings would have an obvious conclusion, but that's not the case here. Coach Val is only 1/2 game behind the current final playoff spot in the standings. Not that an upset is a sure thing but the Marauders have a bench full of byes so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

And the game of the week...

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
The top spot in the West is at stake as these two evenly matched teams meet again. The Stompers won easily in week one but this will be a much tougher task thanks to the bye weeks. We'll know a lot more after tonight's game, as four combined players will be on the field. Can Drew Brees keep up his league leading point total?

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S16: Week 10 Preview

Last week was devoid of any drama at all - the average margin of victory was more than 42 points. But our first place and last place team tied for the top weekly score of 118. That's pretty interesting.

It's already Rivalry Week in the 3FL and not a single playoff spot has been claimed. It should be an exciting last month of the season!

Week 9 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Marauders/Renegades - 118 points

Player MVPs:
Melvin Gordon (RB/SD/M) - 31 points
Mark Ingram (RB/NO/L) - 28 points
Matt Ryan (QB/Atl/MI) - 28 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 32/54 - 59.26%
League Voting: 25/54 - 46.30%
Yahoo! Projections: 30/54 - 55.56%

You should go vote now.

Week 10 Information

Thursday Night: Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens
Sunday Night: Seattle Seahawks @ New England Patriots
Monday Night: Cincinnati Bengals @ New York Giants
Bye Week: Buffalo, Detroit, Indianapolis, Oakland

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for rivalry week:

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
FitzCorp is still hovering over a 100 points per week average with only four weeks to go. Can they continue their high-flying ways against PEP? I don't see why not. And another prediction for this week - David Johnson scores less than his 22 projected points.

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Predacons
Coach Hoss reestablished some first place authority last week, moving to 7-2 and co-outscoring the rest of the league. Meanwhile, the Predacons keep underperforming. Is this the season they miss the playoffs for only the second time in our history?

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
This is going to be a great one to watch, with the most even RB matchup of the year. But Tom Brady on SNF give the CAPS the slightest of advantages.

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Renegades
Our twin billing will live up to the hype this year. It's going to be close from Thursday night through Monday night as long as both starting lineups end up full. The Stompers have the edge but I told you last week about those last-place-but-upset-minded Renegades.

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
This is 1pm heavy matchup, with all but two 'Morons done before dinnertime on Sunday. Can Antonio Brown start Coach Drew's comeback? And can his kicker finish it on MNF?

And the game of the week...

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
The Bolts need to start soon if they want a shot at the postseason and beating SpiVi would be a good start. A win here would even their records but let Coach Thad leapfrog them in the standings. It's going to be close, so keep an eye on the Steelers on Sunday afternoon and the Patriots on Sunday night.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S16: Week 9 Preview

The league had another 1,000 point week and five teams scored 100 or more points. And the playoff race is starting to tighten up in preparation for our final five games in the regular season.

With six NFL teams on a bye again it will be interesting to see which players end up in a starting lineup.

Week 8 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Phys. Ed. Phenoms - 120 points

Player MVPs:
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB/B) - 36 points
Derek Carr (QB/Oak/PEP) - 33 points
Tom Brady (QB/NE/tH) - 31 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 28/48 - 58.33%
League Voting: 21/48 - 43.57%
Yahoo! Projections: 26/48 - 54.17%

The Comm-nosticator, Predacons and Yahoo! were 6/6 in week 8 voting

Week 9 Information

Thursday Night: Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday Night: Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders
Monday Night: Buffalo Bills @ Seattle Seahawks
Bye Week: Arizona, Chicago, Cincinnati, Houston, New England, Washington

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 9:

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Predacons
The Bolts have been pretty underwhelming this season and having a ton of bye week players plus injuries this week isn't going to help. But they've managed to hit the waiver wire and put together quite a squad for their game against the Preds. And if Big Ben returns it could be even better.

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
The big bye week will have a major effect on this game but it's still going to be a great matchup. Tom Brady is on the bye list so this one will be closer than Yahoo! thinks, but the Stompers' RBs won't do enough for the W.

Renegades (-1) vs. Spiked Vipers
Just looking at the Renegades lineup makes you wonder how this team only has one win so far. They'll double that unlucky total this week against SpiVi (finding replacement RBs this week was a tough task) and they just might play the spoiler more than once during the stretch run.

Misfits, Inc. (-1) vs. Dumbbums
These two may have the same record but this game isn't going to be close. Most of their bench is on a bye, but FitzCorp is still going to put up over 100 points to keep their league leading scoring average above the century mark.

Baltimorons (-1) vs. Yuengling Brewers
An early favorite for blowout of the week, this one shouldn't have too much drama for the 'Morons. If the Brew Crew can field a full lineup things will be closer, but just the QB and WR positions might be all that Coach Drew needs.

And the game of the week...

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Marauders
The Marauders are still at the top of the standings but they haven't been dominant over the past few weeks. They'll get all they can handle in this one as PEP has some great matchups on the schedule. Coach Hoss' lineup choices and Christine Michael on MNF will be the difference.

Good luck this week.
