3FL Notes: S19: Week 15 (Semifinals) Preview

For the first time since 2013 our top four seeds advanced to the semis, but it took some Monday night drama to get there. It ended up as our 3rd highest scoring playoff week ever and two teams put up playoff point totals in the top five of all time.

All individual team pages (see links on the sidebar) and the 3FL Records have been updated and show statistics through the end of the 2019 regular season. This year's additions to the records page are in bold. Through 1,500 regular season games we have scored a combined 196,919 points and each of our original 11 teams have played exactly 250 games.

Don't forget, the four teams still in the championship bracket will have only one player add available this week.

Semifinal Games
(Winners play in 3FL SuperBowl XIX, losers play for 3rd Place)

#1 Lightning vs. #4 Spiked Vipers
SpiVi flexed their muscles last week and tied the highest point total for a playoff week in our history. Add this to the fact that they scored the second most points ever in a regular season and that they're projected to score almost 100 points (again), and they're clearly not going to be an easy out. But if there's a team that can beat them it just might be the Bolts. They survived a down week in the quarterfinals (and the curse so far), but have only lost twice in their last twenty games. Twice! We won't have to wait for the result. This one will be over at around 7:30pm on Sunday.

#2 Misfits, Inc. vs. #3 Predacons
These teams have a combined seven players with a Q designation, including both starting QBs. Which of their skill players will take the field? That could tell the story. FitzCorp has the edge based on the matchups but both teams have players that can take over a game. All eyes will be on tonight's game as the Preds try to get things started but the SuperBowl spot won't be decided until prime time.

Consolation Games
(Winners play for 5th Place, losers play for 7th)

#5 the HAW vs. #8 Stiletto Stompers
I told you it was going to come down to MNF for the CAPS last week, but whoa. They actually made an incredible comeback but lost a heartbreaker in the waning minutes of the last game of the week. But don't be too sad for them - Coach HAW has as many SuperBowl victories as the four teams left in the championship bracket combined. They shouldn't have much trouble with the Stompers this week but that's why they play the game, right?

#6 Marauders vs. #7 Yuengling Brewers
This might have been our best game of the week if the Cowboys didn't cut the Marauders' kicker on Tuesday. Injuries are also scattered around these two rosters, but the players that do get to play will be evenly matched. Last week Coach Hoss had more points on the bench than in the starting lineup. They'll have a shot at the 5th place game if they can make the right choices this week.

Good luck this week. The SuperBowl awaits!
