3FL Notes: S21: Week 17 (SuperBowl) Preview

What a playoff week in 3FL! Both of our championship semifinal games ended with prime time comebacks for a SuperBowl berth!! And every team in the winners bracket outscored every team in the consolation bracket.

There are no Thursday or Saturday games this week so SBXXI won't start until 1pm on the first Sunday in 2022. Make sure your team is ready!

Week 16 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Spiked Vipers - 120 points

Player MVPs:
Dak Prescott (QB/Dal/M) - 32 points
Tee Higgins (WR/Cin/SV) - 31 points
Damien Harris (RB/NE/tH) - 28 points

Playoff Predictions Tally

Yahoo! Projections: 4/8 - 50%

Week 16 Information
Sunday Night: Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
Monday Night: Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers

It's SuperBowl week in the 3FL!

For 7th Place:
#6 Baltimorons vs. #8 Dumbbums
It's almost fitting that the 6th and 8th place teams meet to decide which one ends up in 7th. The 'Bums made some noise in the quarterfinals, almost pulling the upset and activating the curse but it wasn't meant to be. Meanwhile the 'Morons have had an up and down season this year and the timing was just a bit off at the end. Remember when these two tied back in Rivalry Week? That could happen again.

For 5th Place:
#2 Stiletto Stompers vs. #4 Predacons
These West Division foes are familiar with each other. They battled for the division title and at multiple points in the season it seemed like either one might be able to pick up their first championship in the 3FL. Now they get to face off to win the consolation bracket instead. Injuries will make for an unexciting postseason finale but maybe one of them will get a shot at the trophy in our 22nd season?

For 3rd Place:
#3 the HAW vs. #5 Yuengling Brewers
It was a heartbreaking set of night games for these two 3FL North teams in the semis. They both had a lead going into the prime time games last week but they'll end up playing each other for the virtual bronze trophy. The CAPS scored over 100 points (which would have beaten any other team in the playoffs except their opponent) and the Brew Crew had another upset in the works until the Cowboys wouldn't stop calling passing plays on Sunday night. Both meetings between these teams this season resulted in a CAPS blowout victory, but this time it might be the best game of the week.

3FL SuperBowl XXI
#1 Marauders vs. #7 Spiked Vipers
What a couple of comebacks! Instead of Cooper Kupp, the Marauders relied on Dak Prescott last week to put up his highest total of the year and seal a SNF comeback. And the Dolphins Defense gave the Vipers 24 points on MNF to earn them a victory and a chance to repeat as SB champions.

It's going to be quite a matchup. The Marauders topped SpiVi's 2020 performance for the season scoring record this year, earning the top seed in the process. But the Vipers have a chance to go back-to-back as they're getting back their best players just in time for the SuperBowl. They may have finished the regular season with a .500 record but they outscored everyone last week. These two are projected to combine for 200 points in this game. And we all remember what SpiVi did last year.

Will SuperBowl records be broken again? Can the #1 seed win the championship two years in a row or will the Vipers keep the title and the trophy? Maybe the Marauders will ride another MNF comeback to win it all?? It all comes down to week 17!

Good luck this week!

Happy New Year and thanks to everyone for another great season!!

3FL Notes: S21: Week 16 (Semifinals) Preview

It was a low scoring but exciting first round of the playoffs, complete with a Tuesday night comeback and a one point game (our 7th in postseason history). For the second year in a row all of the odd numbered seeds advanced to the semifinals.

All individual team pages (see links on the sidebar) and the 3FL Records have been updated and show statistics through the end of the 2021 regular season. This year's additions to the records page are in bold. Through 1,662 regular season games we have scored a combined 224,614 points.

Don't forget, the four teams still in the championship bracket will have only one player add available this week. And there are two Christmas Day games on Saturday in addition to Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights.

Week 15 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: the HAW - 98 points

Player MVPs:
Travis Kelce (TE/KC/SV) - 31 points
Patrick Mahomes (QB/KC/SV) - 27 points
Cooper Kupp (WR/LAR/M) - 25 points

Playoff Predictions Tally

Yahoo! Projections: 2/4 - 50%

Week 16 Information

Thursday Night: San Francisco 49ers @ Tennessee Titans
Christmas Afternoon: Cleveland Browns @ Green Bay Packers
Christmas Night: Indianapolis Colts @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday Night: Washington Football Team @ Dallas Cowboys
Monday Night: Miami Dolphins @ New Orleans Saints

Semifinal Games
(Winners play in 3FL SuperBowl XXI, losers play for 3rd Place)

#1 Marauders vs. #5 Yuengling Brewers
Cooper Kupp should be getting a nice gift basket from Coach Hoss for Christmas. Last week was the third time this season he engineered a prime time comeback for the Marauders and this was by far the most important one. But maybe a brush with the curse is just what the #1 seed needed. They look strong heading into this battle with the Brew Crew, who pulled off their own Tuesday night magic to advance to round 2. The only problem now is all of those Qs.

#3 the HAW vs. #7 Spiked Vipers
The CAPS just keep going. They outscored the league again last week (for the fourth time this season) and were on the correct side of the Biggest Blowout for the second consecutive week (and fourth time this season). It's even better when those things happen in the playoffs. Meanwhile the Vipers had both Mahomes and Kelce return to form. Look out, everyone else. Can they do it again and give SpiVi an opportunity to defend the title and keep the trophy? It might all come down to the COVID protocols.

Consolation Games
(Winners play for 5th Place, losers play for 7th)

#2 Stiletto Stompers vs. #6 Baltimorons
After a great end to the regular season, the Stompers couldn't continue their momentum into the playoffs. They found themselves down 18 after the Thursday night game and couldn't recover. Now the problem becomes filling their lineup against Coach Drew. The 'Morons were our lowest scoring team from last week, but that doesn't matter too much if your opponent has to leave a blank space where the starting RB should go.

#4 Predacons vs. #8 Dumbbums
One. Point. Was it the zero from the defense? Or the -1 kicker? Or maybe the fact that their top WR was injured after 49 receiving yards? Whatever the case, the Preds will have to wait until year 22 for a shot at their first championship. The 'Bums put up quite a fight from the eighth seed but it wasn't quite enough. Do they have enough firepower to make this one exciting? With probably MVP Aaron Rodgers you can never count them out.

Merry Christmas and good luck this week! The SuperBowl awaits!!

Thursday, December 16, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 15 (Quarterfinals) Preview

Our regular season finale week gave us another tie and shuffled up the playoff seedings. And our highest scoring week since W6 permanently placed a few of our teams on the records page. Now it's time to start the journey to the SuperBowl!

Remember that ROSTERS WILL LOCK AT 1pm THIS SUNDAY, December 19th. Under our playoff rules you will be allowed to make 1 add/drop per week once the postseason starts, but only teams still in the winners bracket will be eligible to make a move (with waivers set in reverse order of seeding).

Three wins in a row wins it all!!

Week 14 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Stiletto Stompers - 124 points

Player MVPs:
Dalvin Cook (RB/Min/SS) - 33 points
Josh Allen (QB/Buf/L) - 32 points
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB/D) - 30 points

Regular Season Final Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 51/84 - 60.71%
Yahoo! Projections: 50/84 - 59.52%

Week 15 Information

Thursday Night: Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Chargers
Saturday Afternoon: Las Vegas Raiders @ Cleveland Browns
Saturday Night: New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday Night: New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Monday Night: Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears

The Comm-nosticator is finished for the year, but game previews are not...

#1 Marauders vs. #8 Dumbbums
What a year it was for the Marauders. They broke the season record for points (and average points per game) while securing the top seed and were the only team to go undefeated in their divisional games. Their point totals have dropped some since Rivalry Week but they shouldn't need a huge prime time comeback to beat (or tie) the 'Bums here. Coach Coaldog is the only playoff team with a sub-.500 record. But wait...don't forget about the curse. This one will be closer than you think.

#2 Stiletto Stompers vs. #7 Spiked Vipers
Don't sleep on the Stompers. They finished just a half game behind the Marauders to take second place, outscored the league last week to secure the West Division title and won their last four in a row (and six of their last seven). All signs point to more of the same with a healthy backfield. SpiVi has had an up and down season. They ended up 7-7 and haven't gone over 100 points since week seven. Some of that blame falls on Mahomes and Kelce. Which version of those superstars will show up tonight's game? That might be the difference in this matchup.

#3 the HAW vs. #6 Baltimorons
Last week saw the CAPS leave no doubt about the North. They scored 114 and had the biggest blowout of the week to leapfrog the Brew Crew and win the division. Coach HAW has been victorious in his last four straight, averaging more than 110 points during that run. Things won't be easy against the 'Morons and their Sunday night Saints though. This game will stretch from their five combined starters tonight all the way until Monday night. Will a late field goal attempt be the thing that punches a ticket to the semis?

#4 Predacons vs. #5 Yuengling Brewers
The last time these two played it was not pretty for the Beermen. And last week they scored only 44 points. But this is looking like it could be the closest game of the week. The Preds had the third highest scoring total of the year but have some unfavorable matchups despite the projections. Meanwhile the Brewers will have to wait until closer to gametime to figure out who their QB will be. Along with their four other question marks for this week.

Good luck in the playoffs! The trophy awaits!!

Thursday, December 09, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 14 Preview

There is still one more week left in our first 14 game season since 2003, but all the playoff spots have been locked up. Actually, one of them is still technically in contention, but it would require a giant point differential so it's all but finalized.

We still have a few close matchups that will sort out the seedings and crown our remaining division champions. It should be a great finale!

Week 13 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Predacons - 116 points

Player MVPs:
George Kittle (TE/SF/PEP) - 30 points
Justin Herbert (QB/LAC/tH) - 24 points
Justin Jefferson (WR/Min/R) - 24 points
Jonathan Taylor (RB/Ind/P) - 24 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 46/78- 58.97%
Yahoo! Projections: 45/78 - 57.69%

Week 14 Information

Thursday Night: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday Night: Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers
Monday Night: Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals
Bye Week: Colts, Dolphins, Eagles, Patriots

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 14:

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
FitzCorp would have to win this game and score 191 more points than the losing Spiked Vipers to claim the last playoff spot available. So you're saying there's a chance? Well there's definitely the possibility of a (slight) upset here, as the Preds have their best player on a bye.

Baltimorons (-1) vs Renegades
Remember way back in early September when the Renegades were awarded the best draft after their go with the #1 pick? Well they currently have 4 players on the IR and another 4 on a bye this week. Their lineup is a microcosm of their whole season. Meanwhile the 'Morons are chugging along toward the postseason thanks to that tie.

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Speaking of the tie, the 'Bums have also benefited from their half of that point in the standings. They've locked up a playoff spot but things are looking tough this week against the second place Stompers. Coach Bev can clinch the West Division with a win here, and it all begins when they combine to start 5 players in tonight's game.

Marauders (-1) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
I hope you stayed up for last week's MNF game. The Marauders completed an improbable comeback (more like an "outlast") against the last place Renegades to win by one point. They broke our single season scoring record as well, posting 24 more points than the current best in an equal 13 games. And they locked up the #1 seed and the East Division. So now there's just the curse...

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Lightning
Thanks to scoring a bunch of points this season, SpiVi has pretty much locked in our final postseason spot. It's a good thing too, because they have a losing record and haven't scored more than 75 points since week 10. But Mahomes & Kelce are bound to pick up their pace soon. Perhaps that starts here against the 10 loss Bolts.

And the game of the week...

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
There aren't any playoff spots up for grabs in our regular season finale, but that doesn't mean there won't be drama. The CAPS are on a roll and a win here would take the North Division title from the Brew Crew while leapfrogging them in the standings. The projections are favoring that outcome too. But you just never know.

Good luck this week!

Thursday, December 02, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 13 Preview

Our first three playoff spots have finally been claimed. How many more teams can qualify this week? Things are still very much in flux with only two weeks to go in the regular season.

There are four teams on a bye this week (and next), so it will be even more interesting for our divisional matchups.

Week 12 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: the HAW - 108 points

Player MVPs:
Leonard Fournette (RB/TB/tH) - 37 points
Josh Allen (QB/Buf/L) - 29 points
Joe Mixon (RB/Cin/SS) - 28 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 42/72 - 58.33%
Yahoo! Projections: 41/72 - 56.94%

Week 13 Information

Thursday Night: Dallas Cowboys @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday Night: Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs
Monday Night: New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills
Bye Week: Browns, Packers, Panthers, Titans

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 13:

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
It looks like PEP is just about eliminated from the playoffs, even after their homestead victory last week. If everything goes their way it would still come down to points and there are just too many to make up. They can annoy the understaffed 'Morons this week though. Which will be even easier if Coach Drew doesn't look at his lineup before tonight's game.

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Renegades
Look away. This one could get ugly. The Marauders locked up the East with their victory last week and they're almost assured a win here in our first vs. last place matchup. But the big question is if they'll put up 55 points and break the season scoring record after only 13 weeks. I'd guess yes.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Lightning
The Brew Crew just keeps going. They're still tied with the Marauders for the best record in the league and can push their win total to double digits with a victory here. That would also extend the Bolts' losing streak to six games.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
If the numbers hold this one shouldn't really be very close. But we all know how those things usually end up. The Preds had a terrible showing last week (it doesn't help when you have 2 WRs and a TE that combine for 1 point), but they should be back on track for this one. Two stars play tonight and then we'll have to wait for a 'Bums prime time comeback.

Stiletto Stompers (-1) vs. Misfits, Inc.
With their win last week the Stompers clinched a playoff spot and are one game up atop the West. Things won't be as easy this week against FitzCorp and their quest to jump up into a postseason position. It's looking like a high scoring affair, as long as the right players make it into the starting lineups.

And the game of the week...

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
This is going to be a good one. The CAPS have outscored the league the last two weeks in a row and were the only team to go over 100 points in W12. Now they face a SpiVi team that is clinging to the 8th spot with two weeks left. The projections are just about even, but which Patrick Mahomes will show up? That could be the difference. Along with the other 7 combined players in prime time games.

Good luck this week!

Thursday, November 25, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 12 Preview

The battle between our two top scoring teams ended up being the lowest scoring game of the week. And there are still zero claimed postseason spots with only three weeks to go.

All teams have now played each other one time and we're back to divisional battles to wrap up the regular season and figure out our playoff seedings. This should be a fun week full of drama and turkey!

Week 11 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: the HAW - 126 points

Player MVPs:
Jonathan Taylor (RB/Ind/P) - 49 points (2nd all-time)
Austin Ekeler (RB/LAC/tH) - 35 points
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB/D) - 33 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 39/66 - 59.09%
Yahoo! Projections: 38/66 - 57.58%

Week 12 Information

Thanksgiving Early: Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions
Thanksgiving Late: Las Vegas Raiders @ Dallas Cowboys
Thanksgiving Night: Buffalo Bills @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday Night: Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens
Monday Night: Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Football Team
Bye Week: Cardinals, Chiefs

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 12:

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
These two teams have matching records and the winner will take sole control of the West Division with only a couple of games left in the regular season. They might also lock in a playoff spot. Jonathan Taylor won't score 49(!) points again this week but the Preds have a slight advantage (even though a majority of their WRs are questionable).

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Our other battle in the West features two teams fighting for the eighth spot. It will be an exciting start today with multiple Thanksgiving players but it won't end until two players from each squad play in the prime time games. The winner might be decided by which coach checks their lineup closest to gametime.

Marauders (-1) vs. Baltimorons
Coach Hoss' team is coming off an uncharacteristically low scoring week but they are still at the top of the standings and comfortably have the points lead. They should get back on track (as 25 point favorites) against the 'Morons and their random assortment of RBs thanks to byes and Os and IRs. A Marauders win would also clinch the East Division.

Renegades (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
Don't look now but the Renegades finally got some players back and have scored 100+ points for two weeks in a row. They're eliminated from postseason play, but there are obviously dinner table bragging rights on the line here. Perhaps they can officially knock PEP out of playoff contention. That would be something to talk about all off-season.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
SpiVi managed to beat our #1 team last week despite a negative kicker total and getting only two points from Patrick Mahomes. Now they get to face our #2 team with Mahomes (and Kelce) on a bye. It won't be easy but this one will be closer than it first appears. And with a player in every single time slot it will also take five days to be decided.

And the game of the week...

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Lighting
Herbert and Ekeler helped the CAPS outscore the league last week with big performances on Sunday night. They're projected to be the high scorers on their team again in this one, but the Bolts will put up a fight with their heavy hitters playing on Thanksgiving day and this Sunday night. It will be even closer if they swap out their bye week kicker.

Happy Thanksgiving and good luck this week!

3FL Notes: S21: Week 11 Preview

Rivalry Week lived up to the hype, giving us a tie (in both the NFL and 3FL), a streak breaker and two MNF comebacks.

With only four games left in the regular season there are still no playoff spots clinched and no team is mathematically eliminated either. It should be a fun sprint to the postseason!

Week 10 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Marauders - 120 points

Player MVPs:
Patrick Mahomes (QB/KC/SV) - 38 points
Deebo Samuel (WR/SF/YB) - 24 points
AJ Dillon (RB/GB/M) - 24 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 36/60 - 60%
Yahoo! Projections: 35/60 - 58.33%

The Comm-nosticator was 0/6 in week 10 predictions. Ouch.

Week 11 Information

Thursday Night: New England Patriots @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday Night: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Los Angeles Chargers
Monday Night: New York Giants @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bye Week: Broncos, Rams

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 11:

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
With their loss in our twin billing game last week the Stompers also lost their hold on the West Division. They might be able to get it back with a win in this unfortunately easy matchup. PEP has had a tough go this season and things aren't any easier this week with their bench full of no help at all.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Both of these teams pulled off late MNF comeback wins last week, and that's a possibility for one of them again here. If Saquon Barkley is back he just might help the Preds do just that. But apparently they didn't learn a lesson from the Cam Newton debacle of last year? He's just a bye week fill-in, but still.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
The 'Morons were half of our first tie of the season last week. According to the projections that could happen again in this one. FitzCorp has a slight edge in the matchups but if they fail to swap our their bye week Defense I get to change my pick. Right?

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Renegades
The Renegades halted their losing streak at eight games, leaving no doubt about it as they posted the biggest blowout of Rivalry Week. That probably won't happen again against the CAPS. They'll need to start big with three players going tonight since prime time will belong to Coach HAW (who will have to root for his Chargers players as they take on his Steelers).

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Both of these teams need a win, but the Bolts need one more. A victory keeps them in the hunt for a postseason spot but a loss will be hard to come back from. The 'Bums do have a lot more Qs to deal with and Cordarrelle Patterson is a game time decision. If he's out that's trouble for Coach Coaldog.

And the game of the week...

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
Our top two scoring teams finally meet in a battle that should be as good as advertised. They have the two highest projected scores of the week and both have a chance to be over the century mark. The Marauders will continue their high flying ways, but don't rule out Patrick Mahomes and SpiVi pulling a MNF comeback and getting their .500 record back on the right track.

Good luck this week.

Thursday, November 11, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 10 Preview

A second consecutive clunker of a week gave us our lowest league total in almost two years.

Rivalry Week will have some great matchups but will probably not allow anyone to lock in a playoff spot yet. Things are just too close with only five games to go!

Week 9 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Stiletto Stompers - 121 points

Player MVPs:
James Conner (RB/Ari/SS) - 34 points
Jonathan Taylor (RB/Ind/P) - 31 points
Lamar Jackson (QB/Bal/YB) - 31 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 36/54 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 32/54 - 59.26%

Week 10 Information

Thursday Night: Baltimore Ravens @ Miami Dolphins
Sunday Night: Kansas City Chiefs @ Las Vegas Raiders
Monday Night: Los Angeles Rams @ San Francisco 49ers
Bye Week: Bears, Bengals, Giants, Texans

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for Rivalry Week:

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Predacons
SpiVi lost again last week (to our highest scoring team) and last year's championship game participants enter Rivalry Week with matching records and similar point totals. But we all know what happened in SuperBowl XX. This one will likely have the same result (minus the additions to the record book).

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
This battle will start tonight and feature at least one player in every time slot. The 'Morons have some personnel who might be coming off the IR this week, but the edge will go to the 'Bums if Aaron Rodgers is back. Maybe.

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
The Bolts need a win here to stay in the hunt for the postseason and they just might have the matchups to pull it off. FitzCorp is coming off a week where they scored their lowest total since Rivalry Week of 2017. And they have a lot of work to do to get ready for this one. Can they start a full lineup of players with all those Qs?

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Marauders
Look, it's another amazing matchup! These teams are both projected to score over 100 points this week and have our two highest estimated totals. It just might be our first tie of the year. The biggest question is if either Seahawk on the IR will return for this game.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
The Brew Crew has been steady in second place for a while now. Can they stay there (or even move up)? Don't let the records–or the fact that PEP has nobody available on the bench–fool you. As long as those Qs disappear by Sunday this is the upset special of the week.

And the game of the week...

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Renegades
This has to be the GOTW, right? The standings don't matter. This is another great matchup and things look even across their lineups. The additional storyline is that the Renegades have lost eight in a row. Another L here would put them into a tie at the top of our list of longest losing streaks of all time, matching their own streak and one from...the Stompers of course.

Good luck this week.

Thursday, November 04, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 9 Preview

Our top two teams lost, the West Division swept their games, and our lowest scoring week since last November compressed the standings a bit.

Now the difference between the first seed and missing the playoffs is only three games with six to go.

Week 8 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Predacons - 109 points

Player MVPs:
Josh Allen (QB/Buf/L) - 27 points
Matthew Stafford (QB/LAR/P) - 24 points
Michael Carter (RB/NYJ/L) - 22 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 32/48 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 28/48 - 58.33%

Week 9 Information

Thursday Night: New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday Night: Tennessee Titans @ Los Angeles Rams
Monday Night: Chicago Bears @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Bye Week: Buccaneers, Football Team, Lions, Seahawks

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 9:

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
QBs are an issue this week for both of these teams so things will look a little different than their usual lineups. And with at least 6 combined players in prime time games, everyone will have to stay up late to see who earns the victory to move closer to a playoff qualifying spot.

Marauders (-1) vs. Lightning
Our top team picked up their second loss of the season last week (by only 1 point) but it didn't have to be that way. The Marauders failed to start an active QB after Dak was ruled out late for week 8 with an injury. Josh Allen will post a big number for the Bolts this week but it doesn't look like they'll be able to keep up.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Renegades
Derrick Henry's injury is a big blow to the great season the Brew Crew has put together. They also have some matchup issues and their top WR on a bye this week, opening the door for a Renegades upset. But that will only be possible if Christian McCaffrey is back and Coach Val checks her lineup before tonight's game starts.

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
These two have the same record and their teams are just about even across the board this week (if Davante Adams returns to the field). But the only two RBs with scheduled games for the Corporation have red Qs beside their names. That will be something to keep an eye on.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
The Preds were the only team to score more than 100 points last week but it's possible that both of these teams can pass the century mark here. It should be a close matchup throughout the week. Thursday night games haven't been great for the Predacons this year but they'll need a head start tonight and a solid QB and K performance on SNF to get a win.

And the game of the week...

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
It's been a strange season for SpiVi in 2021. They've lost games they probably should have won, and they've won games when they scored half of their projected total for the week. Can Mahomes and Kelce get back on track this week? Or will the Stompers (and all their Cooks) pull an upset and leapfrog SpiVi in the standings?

Good luck this week.

Thursday, October 28, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 8 Preview

Can you believe we're already halfway through our first 14 game season since 2003? We're averaging 424.5 more points per week than back then though.

Thankfully the only 6 team bye week of the year is now over. That was a little crazy.

Week 7 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Marauders - 117 points

Player MVPs:
Tom Brady (QB/TB/M) - 28 points
Tua Tagovailoa (QB/Mia/tH) - 27 points
Cooper Kupp (WR/LAR/M) - 27 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 28/42 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 26/42 - 61.90%

Week 8 Information

Thursday Night: Green Bay Packers @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday Night: Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings
Monday Night: New York Giants @ Kansas City Chiefs
Bye Week: Raiders, Ravens

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 8:

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
This should be a really close battle and with a game in each time slot it will stretch across the entire week. The key will be 'Bums' starting lineup choices and if they can get out to a big lead with three players going tonight.

Marauders (-1) vs. Misfits, Inc.
Coach Hoss kept rolling last week, outscoring the league again and maintaining the top spot and highest point total for the season. It looks like this could be another W and 100+ point performance as every individual matchup favors the Marauders.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
These two teams come into this game with matching sub-.500 records. One will bring themselves back to even after this one, and the outcome will most likely be decided based on Saquon Barkley's status (and if the Preds have enough healthy RBs to play).

Spiked Vipers (-1) vs. Renegades
Mahomes and Kelce combined for 9 total points last week. And SpiVi still managed to score 116 and win. I don't want to think about what will happen if KC gets back on track this week, but it sure seems like the Renegades L-6 will soon be an L-7.

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Did you know the Brew Crew is still two games up on the rest of our highest scoring division? They'll face off this week against the leader of the South but without Lamar Jackson or Josh Jacobs. That will definitely make things interesting. Especially if the Vikings get things going on Sunday Night.

And the game of the week...

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Lightning
Despite having only two NFL teams on a bye this week, these two still have a bench full of projected zeroes between them. The 'Morons have to keep track of some Qs but they should be able to return some starting players to their lineup who will tip the scales in their favor. Stick around for the prime time kicker battle.

Happy Halloween and good luck this week!

3FL Notes: S21: Week 7 Preview

Week six saw an amazing MNF comeback that gave us our first one point game of the season. Is a tie next?

Don't forget there are six teams on a bye this week, the most at one time all season. The waiver wire is going to be busy.

Week 6 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Predacons - 150 points (3rd all-time)

Player MVPs:
Derrick Henry (RB/Ten/MI) - 33 points
Kyler Murray (QB/Ari/R) - 28 points
Matthew Stafford (QB/LAR/P) - 28 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 24/36 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 23/36 - 63.89%

Week 7 Information

Thursday Night: Denver Broncos @ Cleveland Browns
Sunday Night: Indianapolis Colts @ San Francisco 49ers
Monday Night: New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks
Bye Week: Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, Jaguars, Steelers, Vikings

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 7:

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Predacons
In the past three weeks these two have posted the first and third highest point totals in the history of the league. It's unlikely that either comes close to those numbers this week, with benches full of bye week players and Qs. But you never know.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
What. A. Comeback. The Brew crew was down by 25 points going into MNF with just their RB to play against their opponent's QB. They won by a single point. Of course that RB was Derrick Henry, who will make it less dramatic this time around. Someone should tell the 'Morons that 3 IR players is too many.

Spiked Vipers (-1) vs. Dumbbums
Uhh...what's going on with SpiVi? The high flying Vipers are only 3-3 after our first six weeks. I wouldn't be too concerned, though, as they're still second in scoring. And things will return to normal this week as they'll post at least 100 and run up the score against the 'Bums.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Renegades
FitzCorp lost a heartbreaker last week on MNF but this one will be over a day earlier. It's going to be a really even matchup as we take bye weeks and injuries into consideration. Based on the benches it's looking like the Corporation is leaning toward not even playing a kicker this week. But they just might win anyway.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Lightning
With a combined nine players on a bye there will be nothing pretty about this game. In fact, as of this writing PEP does not have defense with a scheduled game and the Bolts are starting a 3rd string RB. Perhaps it will come down to who wants it...less.

And the game of the week...

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Marauders
Speaking of bye weeks, these two have only a single bench player between them who isn't on a bye (and he is questionable). Who came to the matchup between our 1st and 3rd ranked teams to watch Carson Wentz vs. Teddy Bridgewater? Ugh. But anything can happen here. Like even a Marauders prime time comeback.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S21: Week 6 Preview

WOW! Week 5 was our highest scoring week of all time, and it wasn't even close. More than half of our teams scored 100+ points and FitzCorp added their name to the weekly high totals list.

Don't forget there is another early Sunday game in England and the byes start this week. Make sure your team is ready.

Week 5 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Misfits, Inc. - 145 points (T-5th all-time)

Player MVPs:
Justin Herbert (QB/LAC/tH) - 41 points
Lamar Jackson (QB/Bal/YB) - 40 points
Josh Allen (QB/Buf/L) - 35 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 21/30 - 70%
Yahoo! Projections: 20/30 - 66.67%

Week 6 Information

Thurdsay Night: Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday Morning: Miami Dolphins @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday Night: Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Monday Night: Buffalo Bills @ Tennessee Titans
Bye Week: 49ers, Falcons, Jets, Saints

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 6:

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
Somehow SpiVi has two losses even though they're the top scoring team in the 3FL. It's tough when you score 138 and don't win the game. But they should have a better outcome here. I mean, just check out all of the red letters beside the PEP players. 5 Qs and 1 D,  1 IR and 1 PUP-R. Ouch.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Renegades
These two have had enough in-game injuries already. The Preds can jump out to an early lead tonight, but it's all going to come down to the first round picks. Saquan Barkley is almost surely out, but can Christan McCaffrey return to give the Renegades a fighting chance?

the HAW (-1) vs. Baltimorons
Coach HAW followed up their record breaking performance with 136 points and a second straight Biggest Blowout of the Week. Not too bad. They'll likely be over the century mark again here, and the 'Morons will struggle to keep up with their infirmary of a bench.

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Last week gave the Marauders their first loss of the year but they remain in our top spot for at least one more week. The 'Bums are looking to raise their place in the standings and they should have a shot in this one. Coach Hoss will just have to pay attention to which Seahawks RB gets the start.

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Lightning
The Bolts secured their first win of the year in the waning moments of MNF last week and the result of this matchup might be on the same timeline. The injuries for both teams will be an important factor but Josh Allen can make any game closer than it appears in the projections.

And the game of the week...

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
FitzCorp came out of nowhere last week to match our fifth highest weekly total of all time. They might not put up that many points again this week, but they do have some favorable matchups against our surprising second place Brew Crew. First we'll have to check on the status of Lamar Jackson. Then all eyes will be on Monday Night Football.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S21: Week 5 Preview

Only the Marauders remain undefeated (and they now lead the league in scoring too). And the HAW broke the record for most points ever scored in a regular season game in week 4. They now hold four of the top five spots on the all-time scoring list.

Don't forget about the 9:30am game on Sunday from England.

Week 4 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: the HAW - 158 points (New 3FL record)

Player MVPs:
Tyreek Hill (WR/KC/tH) - 36 points
Patrick Mahomes (QB/KC/SV) - 35 points
Dak Prescott (QB/Dal/M) - 30 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 16/24 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 15/24 - 62.50%

Week 5 Information

Thursday Night: Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks
Sunday Morning: New York Jets @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday Night: Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs
Monday Night: Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens
Bye Week: None until next week

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 5:

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
It was a rare down week for SpiVi but they managed to pick up another win anyway. They'll need to work to get the scoring lead back, though. This one will be close and anything can happen with a combined six players in prime time games.

Yuengling Brewers (-1) vs. Marauders
The Brew Crew picked up their first loss last week despite scoring 112 points. They would have beaten any other team except the record breaking HAW. This week will be different. The Beermen have a shot at taking down our #1 team and it might not even be close.

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. Renegades
Coach Val has been dealing with in-game injuries all season and now they've lost their last three straight. You'd think things would get easier this week against our lowest scoring team, but filling in for the Qs (and IRs) is going to be tough.

Baltimorons (-1) vs. Stiletto Stompers
Both of these teams have scored 380 points through our first four weeks. It's not looking like things will be as equal in this one, as the Stompers have only two players projected into double digits. Unless Dalvin Cook is back...

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Predacons
The Bolts are the only winless team left this year. In fact, they've lost five straight going back to the end of last season. But things are lining up to break that streak this week. The Preds' RBs finally woke up last week but the matchups give the Lightning an edge. Upset special.

And the game of the week...

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
The regular season scoring record was shattered by Coach HAW last week, and he took back the top spot from...PEP. The Phenoms have a chance for revenge here but they'll have to deal with 4 Qs and an O to give themselves that opportunity.

Good luck this week.

Thursday, September 30, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 4 Preview

Three of our winless teams earned their first victory last week and two teams stayed undefeated. What's next as we finish up the last week of our first set of divisional matchups?

Week 3 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Spiked Vipers - 130 points

Player MVPs:
Josh Allen (QB/Buf/L) - 37 points
Justin Herbert (QB/LAC/tH) - 32 points
Matthew Stafford (QB/LAR/P) - 30 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 12/18 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 10/18 - 55.56%

Week 4 Information
Thursday Night: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday Night: Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New England Patriots
Monday Night: Las Vegas Raiders @ Los Angeles Chargers
Bye Week: None until week 6

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 4:

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. the HAW
The Brew Crew is 3-0 and atop the North. Staying there won't be easy though. The CAPS were just on the wrong side of the biggest blowout of the week but there won't be a repeat here. They actually have a chance to pull off the upset but that might depend on Lamar Jackson's back.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Predacons
Both of these teams picked up their first win last week and now one of them will get to double that total and move to .500. It really is an even matchup and there will be games in every time slot. The Preds just have to hope for a prime time comeback.

Baltimorons (-1) vs. Renegades
Let's take back everything we said about Chuba Hubbard. He just might save the Renegades' season. But he better hurry up, because things are trending downward and a third loss in a row within the division is going to be tough to come back from.

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
Coach Hoss remains undefeated and is still sitting in first place. Plus, after scoring more than 100 points each week so far they're projected to do that again. PEP will make it close but they have one too many Qs. And are they really starting the Steelers' Defense?

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Lightning
So we have the highest scoring team in the league against the winless and last place Lightning. Should be an easy pick, right? Not so fast. Josh Allen might be the only QB who can keep up with Mahomes. But everything else would have to go perfectly for the Bolts.

And the game of the week...

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
The Stompers have looked strong this season (other than when they started an injured RB during last week's loss). They have a shot to get back on track against the 'Bums and their low scoring total this week. Especially if A.J. Brown ends up on the wrong side of Questionable for Coach Coaldog.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S21: Week 3 Preview

Scores came back down to earth last week and injuries are starting to take their toll. And we have a new leader atop the standings!

Week 2 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Marauders - 123 points

Player MVPs:
Derrick Henry (RB/Ten/YB) - 41 points
Aaron Jones (RB/GB/PEP) - 34 points
Kyler Murray (QB/Ari/R) - 31 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 7/12 - 58.33%
Yahoo! Projections: 5/12 - 41.67%

Week 3 Information

Thursday Night: Carolina Panthers @ Houston Texans
Sunday Night: Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers
Monday Night: Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys
Bye Week: None until week 6

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 3:

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Renegades
Don't look now but Coach Hoss has the Marauders in the #1 spot. They're projected to post 100+ points again this week but things won't be easy against the Renegades and their stars. We'll know a lot more about this game after tonight's Panthers' performances.

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
I'm not sure anyone would have predicted where these two teams would be heading into this matchup. The Stompers are second in the league and leading their division while FitzCorp is winless and in last place. All that could change depending on the outcome of this one so we'll have to stay up for the prime time games.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Lightning
The Brew Crew came into 2021 on an 8 game losing streak, but they've halted that slide and are heading in the opposite direction. They're undefeated to start this season and are atop the 3FL North. The Bolts are at the bottom of that division and are still looking for their first win. But this one could really go either way.

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. the HAW
After 5 straight wins that included a record setting SuperBowl performance, SpiVi lost last week despite scoring in the triple digits. So they'll hold onto the league's high point total for now. Can the CAPS keep up? Maybe. It will be up to the TE differential and the QBs going head-to-head in their NFL game.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Hmm. This matchup features the 10th and 11th scoring teams in the league. It's going to be a close (but maybe low scoring) game and nothing will be decided until MNF. The only thing that's for sure is the Preds will choose the wrong player for the flex spot.

And the game of the week...

Baltimorons (1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
Both of these teams have scored exactly 196 points so far this season. But PEP is 2-0 and the 'Morons are 0-2. Perhaps that script is flipped this week, but don't rule out the possibility of a tie. Now that would make sense.

Good luck this week.

Thursday, September 16, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 2 Preview

The league was just shy of the top five scoring weeks of all time and SpiVi outscored everyone again. Seems like we picked up right where we left off.

The first set of intradivisional games starts this week. Make sure your team is ready!

Week 1 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Spiked Vipers - 126 points

Player MVPs:
Kyler Murray (QB/Ari/R) - 35 points
Patrick Mahomes (QB/KC/SV) - 31 points
Jalen Hurts (QB/Phi/B) - 29 points
Russell Wilson (QB/Sea/SS) - 29 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 4/6 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 2/6 - 33.33%

Week 2 Information

Thursday Night: New York Giants @ Washington Football Team
Sunday Night: Kansas City Chiefs @ Baltimore Ravens
Monday Night: Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers
Bye Week: None until week 6

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 2:

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Predacons
The Stompers were the only West Division team to earn a victory last week and they scored the second highest total in the league. They get the Preds in this one, which would be a tougher task if Saquon Barkley was up to speed (and not playing on Thursday night).

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Marauders
Both of these teams went over the century mark last week but only one of them won. They'll each have a chance to score 100+ again with some favorable matchups. But the Morons' SNF duo will allow for a comeback and an opposite result from their opening game.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
These two have found themselves at the very bottom of the standings after our first week. Both scored under 60 points. That's not a great start. But one of them will pick up a win here with all eyes on Aaron Rodgers on Monday night.

The HAW (-1/2) vs. Lightning
It's not much better for these two North Division rivals. They find themselves in 9th & 10th place and with lower point totals than usual. Anything can happen here and there are games across all the time slots, but it might come down to the Bolts' OBJ replacement.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1) vs. Renegades
They're in the same division and the same house. And now they get to play each other in week 2. Someone will have head-to-head bragging rights for a majority of the regular season after this one. It's just a shame that the matchups might make things so lopsided.

And the game of the week...

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
What a GOTW this will be. We get to watch Patrick Mahomes against Lamar Jackson on SNF. Do the rest of the lineups even matter? Of course they do. I just can't bring myself to pick against SpiVi quite yet.

Good luck this week.

Thursday, September 09, 2021

3FL Notes: S21: Week 1 Preview

Can the Spiked Vipers defend the title and break all their own records? Will the flex position and extra game change everything? Can you believe we're kicking off our third decade of fantasy football?? The 21st 3FL season will have these answers.

It all starts tonight. Get your team ready to go!

Week 1 Information

Thursday Night: Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday Night: Chicago Bears @ LA Rams
Monday Night: Baltimore Ravens @ Las Vegas Raiders
Bye Week: None until week 6

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 1:
The first week is always the toughest to predict, but here goes...

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
SpiVi begins their title defense as the biggest underdog of the week (according to Yahoo! projections). Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce can turn those numbers around in a hurry, but the RB differential might be just enough for the 'Morons.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
We'll have quite the QB battle as the two unadorned helmet logos face off in week 1. The players stretch across every NFL time slot and both have a chance for an early advantage tonight. But the game will be left in the hands of the Brew Crew's 2 MNF players for a comeback.

Lightning (-1) vs. Renegades
This one would be much closer if the Renegades' RB2 didn't suffer a season ending injury earlier today. His replacement is...Chuba Hubbard? Yikes. Perhaps they can swing a trade for one of the 5 RBs on the Bolts' roster. After this game is over of course.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
Another tight 3FL matchup is highlighted by players in tonight's game. In fact, FitzCorp has a starter playing in every scheduled game time this week. It's so close this one is really a coin toss so perhaps it should come down to Prime Time.

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. the HAW
The flex position gives us a new wrinkle this season and that spot may be the difference in this matchup. The rest of their rosters are relatively even, but picking the best choice among multiple players with the same projected points could secure the victory.

And the game of the week...

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Predacons
This looks to be an even matchup across the lineups. It will depend on Saquon Barkley's reps and the Steelers/Bills game (where almost half of Coach Hoss' team is playing), but it won't be over until SNF gives the Preds a comeback opportunity.

Good luck in Week 1 and for the rest of Season 21!

3FL Notes: 2021 Draft Analysis

Eleven of our twelve teams were represented during the online draft on Thursday night. Here is an analysis of the results (in draft order):

1. Renegades: Hmm. Coach Val was awarded the Best Draft this year despite being given a B on the official draft report card. Her team looks solid but her RBs better stay healthy. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: B)

2. Stiletto Stompers: The Stompers earned the highest grade in the league from Yahoo! and are the preseason favorite to win it all. I have to agree–there aren't many holes in this lineup. Grade: A- (Yahoo! Grade: A-)

3. Yuengling Brewers: Derrick Henry, DK Metcalf and Lamar Jackson on the same team? Look out for the Brew Crew this season. This group is way better than Yahoo! thinks. Grade: B+ (Yahoo! Grade: C+)

4. Baltimorons: The QB room is full for the 'Morons. There are 3 signal callers on the roster but there is a reason to be concerned about each one of them. But there are also a few sleepers on this team so you never know. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: C)

5. Dumbbums: Top talent is represented at QB, WR and RB, but there are also a couple of rookies on this team. They might make or break the 'Bums season. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: C)

6. Lightning: This is a strong squad. They have a dynamic QB and a solid backfield. Just have to hope for the best with the WR corps. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: B)

7. Phys. Ed. Phenoms: PEP put together some great offensive power but left the QB position to a couple of young guys. But if one of them steps up then watch out. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: C)

8. Misfits, Inc.: The autodraft was not amazing for the Corporation this year, but they did get a better Kicker and Defense than if they were sitting in front of a computer. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: C+)

9. the HAW: From first to worst? The CAPS were awarded our Best Draft last year but they're at the very bottom of the list this time around. I would argue about it but take a look at those graphs. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: C)

10. Marauders: It's Dak and the kids for Coach Hoss this year. He drafted 3 rookies and 2 second year players, and if they live up to the hype then big things might be in the works. Grade: A- (Yahoo! Grade: B)

11. Predacons: Wasn't this going to be the draft that the Preds finally did something different than RB/RB at the beginning and taking a QB too late? They ended up doing both. But their fate will mostly depend on Saquan's performance. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: B)

12: Spiked Vipers: SpiVi will begin their title defense with the best QB and TE in the league. Plus 2 other TEs for some reason. Their draft strategies might be unorthodox, but they've also scored the most points ever in a 3FL season. Grade: B+ (Yahoo! Grade: B)

The Comm-nosticator makes his first predictions soon. Stay tuned.

3FL 2021 Update | Last Minute Changes

Our draft is coming up soon but I wanted to let everyone know about a few last minute changes to the 3FL as we start our third decade.

We voted to keep a 13 game regular season, but it turns out that the NFL has pushed bye weeks all the way into week 14 of their schedule. This would put our playoff semifinal teams at risk of having to rely on bye week fill-ins in the first week of the postseason. That seems like a bit of an unfair draw. So we're going to expand our regular season to 14 games.

With this change also comes the contraction of divisions from four to three. It makes sense to still play your divisional foes twice and everyone else once, and three divisions will allow us to keep that schedule structure. We're using the same draft order from our annual meeting so we'll have the following divisions for 2021:

EAST
Renegades, Baltimorons, Phys. Ed. Phenoms, Marauders

WEST
Stiletto Stompers, Dumbbums, Misfits, Inc., Predacons

NORTH
Yuengling Brewers, Lightning, the HAW, Spiked Vipers

Since we're changing things at the core of the league it makes sense to also implement any other changes at the same time. The threshold for rules modifications has historically been 60% of the votes, but we're going to enact the two questionnaire items from this season that reached a simple majority.

So we're replacing a WR spot with a FLEX position (WR/RB/TE), and kicker points will now be tiered based on distance (3, 3, 3, 4, 5). A missed kick from more than 50 yards is now worth -1.

It should be an interesting start to our third decade of fantasy football. Good luck this season!
