3FL Notes: S21: Week 16 (Semifinals) Preview

It was a low scoring but exciting first round of the playoffs, complete with a Tuesday night comeback and a one point game (our 7th in postseason history). For the second year in a row all of the odd numbered seeds advanced to the semifinals.

All individual team pages (see links on the sidebar) and the 3FL Records have been updated and show statistics through the end of the 2021 regular season. This year's additions to the records page are in bold. Through 1,662 regular season games we have scored a combined 224,614 points.

Don't forget, the four teams still in the championship bracket will have only one player add available this week. And there are two Christmas Day games on Saturday in addition to Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights.

Semifinal Games
(Winners play in 3FL SuperBowl XXI, losers play for 3rd Place)

#1 Marauders vs. #5 Yuengling Brewers
Cooper Kupp should be getting a nice gift basket from Coach Hoss for Christmas. Last week was the third time this season he engineered a prime time comeback for the Marauders and this was by far the most important one. But maybe a brush with the curse is just what the #1 seed needed. They look strong heading into this battle with the Brew Crew, who pulled off their own Tuesday night magic to advance to round 2. The only problem now is all of those Qs.

#3 the HAW vs. #7 Spiked Vipers
The CAPS just keep going. They outscored the league again last week (for the fourth time this season) and were on the correct side of the Biggest Blowout for the second consecutive week (and fourth time this season). It's even better when those things happen in the playoffs. Meanwhile the Vipers had both Mahomes and Kelce return to form. Look out, everyone else. Can they do it again and give SpiVi an opportunity to defend the title and keep the trophy? It might all come down to the COVID protocols.

Consolation Games
(Winners play for 5th Place, losers play for 7th)

#2 Stiletto Stompers vs. #6 Baltimorons
After a great end to the regular season, the Stompers couldn't continue their momentum into the playoffs. They found themselves down 18 after the Thursday night game and couldn't recover. Now the problem becomes filling their lineup against Coach Drew. The 'Morons were our lowest scoring team from last week, but that doesn't matter too much if your opponent has to leave a blank space where the starting RB should go.

#4 Predacons vs. #8 Dumbbums
One. Point. Was it the zero from the defense? Or the -1 kicker? Or maybe the fact that their top WR was injured after 49 receiving yards? Whatever the case, the Preds will have to wait until year 22 for a shot at their first championship. The 'Bums put up quite a fight from the eighth seed but it wasn't quite enough. Do they have enough firepower to make this one exciting? With probably MVP Aaron Rodgers you can never count them out.

Merry Christmas and good luck this week! The SuperBowl awaits!!
