3FL Notes: S14: Week 9 Preview

The HAW continued their streak and we saw another divisional sweep (this time a Civil War reenactment of the North over the South). And the league topped itself again this year with a new 4th all-time weekly scoring total.

With six NFL teams on a bye this week it will be interesting to see who ends up in everyone's starting lineups.

Week 8 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Lightning - 117 points

Player MVPs:
Tom Brady (QB/NE/L) - 37 points
Miami Dolphins Defense (tH) - 27 points
Arian Foster (RB/Hou/SS) - 26 points

Week 9 Information

Thursday Night: New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers
Sunday Night: Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Monday Night: Indianapolis Colts @ New York Giants
Bye Week: Bears, Bills, Falcons, Lions, Packers, Titans

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 9:

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
Cam Newton appears to be back in the board room, and his performance on Thursday night could make or break this one. The Preds have all of their players going at 1pm on Sunday and they'll have to just watch and hope again on MNF. For some reason that has worked more often than not this year.

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Renegades
The bolts came within two points of making the list of top weekly scores of all time. If only Sammy Watkins had waited five more yards to celebrate. Anyway, these two may have the same record but they are going in opposite directions. And they both continue those ways.

the HAW (-1) vs. Baltimorons
Coach HAW has now won 6 in a row and 15 of his last 16 in the regular season. You can go ahead and pencil in another one. Of course he gets the 'Morons when Aaron Rodgers in on a bye (and they have no backup yet on the roster). It's not going to be pretty.

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
The Stompers finally broke out last week, scoring 95 points and posting the biggest blowout too. Don't expect those numbers again, as half of their players are on a bye and their backup QB doesn't even start for his NFL team anymore. Also, they're playing against Peyton Manning.

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Edge to the Vipers since Tony Romo is hurt once again and both of the Brew Crew's staring RBs are on a bye. SpiVi is starting the Steelers D against the Ravens on Sunday night and the Brewers have 2 going on Monday, so this one is going to stretch out the week and make us wait to find out the winner.

And the game of the week...

Marauders (-1/2) vs. The Comfy Chair
You'd think that scoring 92 points in a 3FL game would most likely earn you a victory, but Coach Hoss did just that last week and lost. By 25 points. Let's also mention the fact that Big Ben scored 46 points while sitting on the Marauders' bench. That would have been tied for second all-time if he was playing. But, be honest, he wouldn't have been in your starting lineup either. As for this game, it's going to come down to the wire in prime time. Should be a good one.

Happy Halloween and good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S14: Week 8 Preview

Another week, another divisional sweep. This time it was the South over the West. And we saw two streaks continue - the HAW's 5-game winning streak and the Stompers' 5-game losing streak.

Remember that there is an early morning game on Sunday this week. The NFL decided that it would be a good idea to have another game at Wembley Stadium, this time at 9:30am EDT.

Week 7 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Marauders - 91 points

Player MVPs:
Peyton Manning (QB/Den/D) - 30 points
Russell Wilson (QB/Sea/M) - 29 points
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB/B) - 24 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 28/42 - 66.67%
League Voting: 26/42 - 61.90%
Yahoo! Projections: 27/42 - 64.29%

Coach Sinkerbeam and the league were both 6/6 in week 7 voting

Week 8 Information

Thursday Night: San Diego Chargers @ Denver Broncos
Sunday Morning: Detroit Lions @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday Night: Green Bay Packers @ New Orleans Saints
Monday Night: Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
Bye Week: New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 8:

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Marauders
Brady and Wilson seem to be back into form lately, and they'll face off in one of our better matchups this week. With a combined 13 players having either a P or Q beside their name we'll have to be paying attention during warmups to see who actually ends up on the field.

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
Is it about time for FitzCorp to break out? They have scored less than their projected total for the past three weeks in a row. Maybe the QB switch is the answer for a turnaround. On the other side, it seems like Aaron Rodgers is on the MVP list every week, doesn't it? No controversy there. But the 'Morons will need to decide on a Kicker.

the HAW (-1) vs. Renegades
The CAPS have escaped their past two games with 1 point victories. This week Yahoo! is projecting a HAW win of 20 points and it might not be too far off. That would make 6 in a row and 15 of their last 16 in the regular season.

The Comfy Chair (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
The sneaky Chair has jumped up into the #2 spot in the league. Not too many of the pundits saw that one coming. Meanwhile, the Stompers need a victory here to have any chance at the playoffs. It's never too late to start a streak.

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
It looks like Jimmy Graham may hold the key to this one. Will he play? How much? The QB head-to-head matchup tonight will be a great start to a game that will last from Thursday all the way until Monday.

And the game of the week...

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Jay Cutler finally got the chance to start for the Preds last week and he turned in by far his worst game of the year. So does that mean Nick Foles has his job back? Coach Sinkerbeam is bound to choose the wrong one. And everyone will have to watch Tony Romo on MNF to see if he can mount a comeback. Ugh.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S14: Week 7 Preview

The NFL saw its first tie of the season last week and we almost had one, too (until stat corrections). And the East division continued its string of dominance, finishing the trifecta and sweeping the South to run its three members' collective winning streak to 10 games.

Don't look now, but we're halfway through our regular season.

Week 6 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Yuengling Brewers - 83 points

Player MVPs:
Cam Newton (QB/Car/MI) - 26 points
Philip Rivers (QB/SD/SV) - 24 points
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB/B) - 24 points

Note: Remember that only active players can be MVPs - 3 of the top 4 scorers in the league were sitting on a 3FL bench in week 6.

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 23/36 - 63.89%
League Voting: 20/36 - 55.56%
Yahoo! Projections: 22/36 - 61.11%

Week 7 Information

Thursday Night: New York Jets @ New England Patriots
Sunday Night: San Francisco 49ers @ Denver Broncos
Monday Night: Houston Texans @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Bye Week: Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 7:

The Comfy Chair (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
The rematch of our FMLB World Series happens this week but it's looking like it will have the opposite outcome. Tim-A's Tim-A's (seriously) held aloft our fantasy baseball trophy a few weeks ago, but with the bye week lining up for the Eagles the edge goes to the sneaky good Chair.

Baltimorons (-1) vs. Stiletto Stompers
The Stompers are having a tough go this season and have lost their last four in a row. Of course, the 'Morons aren't doing much better. But they have Aaron Rodgers. He may outscore Coach Bev's squad by himself.

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Don't look now, but the HAW has lost exactly once in their last 14 regular season games. That goes all the way back to week 6 of last season (when their capital letters were the opposite of now). The 'Bums and Peyton Manning would like nothing more than to hand out a loss but it won't be easy. Sunday night's game looms large, but the Steelers on MNF could flip the script.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Marauders
It makes no sense, but the Preds are eleventh in scoring but 5-1 and second in the standings. The Marauders are second in scoring but are only .500 this year. The starting QBs may once again be the difference for Coach Hoss but the Predacons don't have to worry about that. There is only one choice with Nick Foles on a bye.

Lightning (-1) vs. Yuengling Brewers
After a rough start to the season the Brewers have climbed back to respectability, winning their last three in a row and outscoring everyone else during that time period. Things look like they'll cool back down against Tom Brady and the Bolts as they're up against some tough matchups.

And the game of the week...

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Renegades
With a combined 5 P's, 4 Q's and 3 byes it won't be pretty, but this one looks like our most exciting battle this week. SpiVi seems to have the matchup edge but the Renegades are holding out hope that things aren't out of hand by the time Sunday Night Football rolls around. Of course that's past Coach Val's bedtime on a school night.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S14: Week 6 Preview

The HAW jump into the top spot this week after winning their third game in a row. They also led the East's second divisional sweep in a row, this time combining with the Chair and Brewers to outscore their West division opponents by a total of 229-151.

Week 5 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Baltimorons - 94 points

Player MVPs:
Peyton Manning (QB/Den/D) - 29 points
Demaryius Thomas (WR/Den/tH) - 23 points
Philadelphia Eagles Defense (YB) - 22 points

Player MVPs now include their 3FL team (last abbreviation).
D=Dumbbums. tH=the HAW. You get the idea. Hat tip to Coach Skrabby.

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 19/30 - 63.33%
League Voting: 17/30 - 56.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 18/30 - 60%

Go vote before the Thursday night game!

Week 6 Information

Thursday Night: Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans
Sunday Night: New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles
Monday Night: San Francisco 49ers @ St. Louis Rams
Bye Week: Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 6:

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Predacons
These two have had opposite luck so far. You'd never know that the 1-4 Bolts have outscored the Preds by an average of 10+ points per week. It will all come down to Sunday night when the final two players for each team face off. Will their respective luck continue?

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Sunday night looms large in this one as well, but even more important will be if the 'Morons hit the waiver wire for a kicker. And if Houston can regain their Defensive form tonight.

Dumbbums (-1) vs. Renegades
The 'Bums don't have a single player on a bye this week so things are looking good for them, and it doesn't hurt that the Renegades are having some mid-week injury issues. Also, Peyton Manning.

The Comfy Chair (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
You would think that having Drew Brees on a bye might hurt your chance at a win, but when Jimmy Graham is on the other team things end up evening out. And with all of the Ps and Qs (and Os) between these two, good luck figuring out who has the edge.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
At least one of these two gets to halt their three game losing streak this week. FitzCorp seems to have the best shot at their first win in a month - as long as they can find a TE who is healthy enough to actually play in his game.

And the game of the week...

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Marauders
This battle between our two top scoring teams is really too close to call. We'll know a lot more after the Thursday night game, but we'll have to wait until MNF to see if the CAPS can secure the comeback. Will the Marauders' QB switch be the right call? It might make the difference again.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S14: Week 5 Preview

Our only remaining winless team outscored the rest of the league in week 4, so everyone has now earned at least one victory. Last week's league total was our fourth highest of all time - and that was with five players scoring negative points.

Week 4 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Yuengling Brewers - 93 points

Player MVPs:
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB) - 30 points
Andrew Luck (QB/Ind) - 29 points
Philip Rivers (QB/SD) - 25 points

Predictions Tally

League Voting: 12/24 - 50%

Week 5 Information

Thursday Night: Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday Night: Cincinnati Bengals @ New England Patriots
Monday Night: Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Redskins
Bye Week: Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 5:

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Lightning
I know it's early, but the losing team in this one is going to end up 1-4 with an uphill climb for a postseason spot. Their point totals are almost exactly the same so far but it looks like it will come down to QB play this week. That's not good news for Tom Brady and the Bolts.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
An even matchup all the way, we'll get a hint of things to come after the Thursday night game. Then things are spread out all the way until Monday night. The edge goes to FitzCorp because I'm sure at least one of the Vipers' players will end up out with their injury.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
Our fight for last place might just be the most entertaining game of the week. The Brewers came back to life last week and scored the most points in the league, while the Stompers are coming off of two straight weeks of putting up 40 or less. Coach Bev has at least one player in every time slot but it going to be an uphill battle.

the HAW (-1) vs. Predacons
Jamaal Charles scored his first fantasy points of the season last week, putting the rest of the Preds on his back and leading them to an improbable comeback victory to stay unbeaten. That type of luck will change this week, when Andrew Luck and the CAPS continue their high scoring ways.

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Peyton Manning is back from his bye week, but the 'Bums are going to need all the help they can get as the top scoring Marauders come to town. Coach Hoss' team is on pace to score 1000 points this year and it doesn't seem to matter which QB they choose. Is this the week that makes the difference?

And the game of the week...

The Comfy Chair (-1/2) vs Renegades
A good matchup from the start, this one will focus on the high-flying QBs and boom-or-bust TEs. It will definitely go down to the wire with all eyes on MNF as Seattle's D tries to complete the comfy comeback.

Good luck this week.
