3FL Notes: S23: Week 4 Preview

Week three was the opposite of week two. Instead of close matchups, just about every game was a blowout. The average margin of victory was more than 38 points! What's next as we finish up the last round of our first set of divisional matchups?

Don't forget about the Sunday morning game at 9:30am EDT.

Week 3 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Marauders - 124 points

Player MVPs:
Raheem Mostert (RB/Mia/M) - 38 points
Davante Adams (WR/LV/SV) - 29 points
Keenan Allen (WR/LAC/M) - 27 points
Justin Herbert (QB/LAC/SS) - 27 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 14/18 - 77.78%
Yahoo! Projections: 14/18 - 77.78%

Week 4 Information
Thursday Night: Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday Morning: Atlanta Falcons @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday Night: Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets
Monday Night: Seattle Seahawks @ New York Giants
Bye Week: None until next week

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 4:

Renegades (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
It's very early, but both of these teams could use a win to stay on the edge of the playoff picture. Each can get things started tonight but we'll have to wait until Monday night to find out which of these two will claw back to .500.

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
This looks to be a high scoring affair. Both teams have breakout WRs and are even in the backfield, so it will come down to the thinnest of margins. Perhaps just a FG on Sunday night.

Marauders (-1) vs. Dumbbums
All you need to know is that our top scoring team is playing against our lowest scoring team this week. The Marauders have averaged 43 more points per game than the 'Bums this year. Yikes.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Predacons
This is a rematch of SuperBowl XXII, and we all know what happened in that game. The Brew Crew is in good shape to repeat the victory even though the Preds are undefeated and things are even across positions (except for TE). Lots of primetime games should at least make it exciting.

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Lightning
The Bolts may be 3-0 but their projections this week are tied for the lowest in the league. In fact, both of these teams have only their QB expected to score in double digits. That quarterback battle will be great, but keep an eye on Saquon Barkley. He may be healthy enough to play this week but banking on him in a MNF game will be risky.

And the game of the week...

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
With last week's loss Coach Drew is now tied for the longest losing streak in 3FL history. Another loss this week would put him all alone atop the list as the first to L10. At least he gets to face our last place team. Although maybe PEP will turn things around now that the fantasy baseball season is over (with Coach GregW securing the FMLB trophy). At least we know one of these teams will pick up their first victory.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S23: Week 3 Preview

An amazingly competitive week featured some back and forth battles and a much higher league scoring total, and the average margin of victory was only 6 points. More divisional games are on the schedule for week three!

Week 2 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Yuengling Brewers - 117 points

Player MVPs:
Daniel Jones (QB/NYG/MI) - 27 points
Brian Robinson (RB/Was/YB) - 26 points
Pittsburgh Steelers Defense (PEP) - 26 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 9/12 - 75%
Yahoo! Projections: 9/12 - 75%

Week 3 Information

Thursday Night: New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers
Sunday Night: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Las Vegas Raiders
Monday Evening: Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Monday Night: Los Angeles Rams @ Cincinnati Bengals
Bye Week: None until week 5

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 3:

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
The 'Morons are the top scoring team in the league after our first two weeks. They're also 0-2 and have lost their last 8 straight games (and 10 of their last 11). A loss against the Preds this week will tie the all time losing streak record. And all those Qs and IRs aren't going to help.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
Our defending champs outscored the league last week and are projected to have the highest score again this week. Meanwhile, PEP is hoping that their prime time comeback is enough to earn them a win this time around.

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Renegades
With a player in every NFL time slot, this one will take an extended time to decide the winner. Both teams have a chance for a big start tonight but the matchups seem to give the edge to the Marauders.

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Lightning
Losing Saquon Barkley is going to make it tough for the Bolts to stay undefeated this week. They only have one player projected to score in the double digits. But that player is Patrick Mahomes, so you never know.

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
The 'Bums have put up fewer points this whole season than a couple of our teams did just last week. But they have a shot at grabbing their first win against FitzCorp, who appear to be starting Daniel Jones in tonight's game because of a concussed first string QB.

And the game of the week...

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. the HAW
This important 3FL North battle is going to come down to the wire on MNF. The CAPS are undefeated but SpiVi has scored more points so far. Coach HAW has to hope that his team can keep it close through the early games, and his fingers have to be crossed that Breece Hall can actually play on Sunday since there are no backup RBs on the roster.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S23: Week 2 Preview

We kicked off our 23rd year with our lowest scoring week since 2019. The North Division won all their games while prime time comebacks and season ending injuries were the rest of the story.

The first set of intradivisional games starts this week and there are also two Monday night games. Make sure your team is ready!

Week 1 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Spiked Vipers/the HAW - 94 points

Player MVPs:
Tyreek Hill (WR/Mia/SV) - 33 points
Brandon Aiyuk (WR/SF/tH) - 24 points
Aaron Jones (RB/GB/B) - 24 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 5/6 - 83.33%
Yahoo! Projections: 4/6 - 66.67%

Week 2 Information

Thursday Night: Minnesota Vikings @ Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday Night: Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots
Monday Evening: New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers
Monday Night: Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Bye Week: None until week 5

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 2:

Renegades (-1) vs. Dumbbums
The 'Bums scored only 39 points last week, their lowest total since 2019. Some of that was Aaron Rodgers lasting only 4 plays but there were also two other zeros in the starting lineup. Things won't be that bad in W2, but the Renegades should pick up their first win easily.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
This one is really even across the board. It will be fun to watch two AFC North QBs in their head-to-head matchup, but the game will come down to a comeback attempt by the Steelers' D on MNF.

Baltimorons (-1) vs. Yuengling Brewers
The Brew Crew kicked off their title defense with a loss last week, and they really need Kelce back to prevent starting 0-2. Meanwhile the 'Morons are on a 7 game losing streak and another one here would put them on the Records page. Hurts won't let that happen.

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Lightning
It's really a coin flip here. SpiVi sits atop the league after their victory last week but the Bolts are also 1-0 (even they had the lowest score of all the winning teams last week). Still, a good showing by Mahomes could make the Vipers nervous for their prime time comeback bid.

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
Coach HAW led his team to victory last week and tied for the highest score. And that was all while their starting QB was terrible. If Josh Allen returns to form this might be a tough one for the Stompers to win, but they'll definitely need a good showing tonight for a shot at win number two.

And the game of the week...

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
Their records might not show it, but these teams were only two points apart last week. Now the'll battle for what will likely be the early division lead. The winner won't be decided until we watch a combined six players (five of them Marauders) in the night games.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S23: Week 1 Preview

Can the Brewers defend the title? Or will we (finally) have another new name on the trophy? And will we break any records this year?? The 23rd 3FL season will have these answers.

It all starts tonight. Get your team ready to go!

Week 1 Information

Thursday Night: Detroit Lions @ Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday Night: Dallas Cowboys @ NY Giants
Monday Night: Buffalo Bills @ NY Jets
Bye Week: None until week 5

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 1:
The first week is always the toughest to predict, but here goes...

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
We all know that Patrick Mahomes can make or break a fantasy week, or even a whole fantasy season. He'll start things off for Coach Thad tonight. But the most interesting matchup will be the direct QB/Defense face off on MNF (plus two more Bills for the Bolts).

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Our returning champs are facing their first setback already – it looks like Travis Kelce will be ruled out for tonight's season opener. The rest of the Brew Crew may be able to pick up the slack but we won't find out until late this week, as these teams have a combined six players starting in prime time games.

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms.
Will PEP's failing draft grade derail their early chances? Maybe. But I'd put things more on the competition here. The Stompers are looking tough this week and will hope to preserve a win as it comes down to opposing RBs on Monday night.

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Marauders
An A+ rating and best draft award doesn't always translate into an obvious playoff spot by the end of the regular season. But it looks like it will be quite enough to get the CAPS to begin the year with a victory.

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
It looks like the 'Morons are betting on the future with their IR spot full and a suspended RB on the roster. This one will be close but the current club from Baltimore (without a single Raven) has the slightest advantage.

And the game of the week...

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Renegades
The Preds can get their season off to a good start with a positive showing in tonight's game. Then both teams will have to wait around to see if Coach Val's team can pull off a comeback that will start on Sunday afternoon.

Good luck in Week 1 and for the rest of Season 23!

3FL Notes: 2023 Draft Analysis

Eleven of our twelve teams were represented during the online draft on Thursday night. Here is an analysis of the results (in draft order):

1. Marauders: Perhaps his recent move to the sunshine state is the reason Coach Hoss drafted six players from Florida teams. Yahoo sure didn't like that, though. Grade: C (Yahoo! Grade: D)

2. Baltimorons: There wasn't any love for the 'Morons' picks either. I'll admit that Diontae Johnson was probably a reach, but Jalen Hurts and Austin Ekeler make this team better than a D. Grade: C+ (Yahoo! Grade: D)

3. Stiletto Stompers: The Stompers put together a solid team and their top four picks really stand out. They just have to hope everyone stays healthy because their bench is pretty thin. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: C+)

4. Renegades: As long as Justin Fields can at least meet expectations, this team looks like it could be going places. Does Coach Val know something about Jahan Dotson the rest of us don't? Grade: C+ (Yahoo! Grade: B)

5. Yuengling Brewers: Our returning champs stacked things up for their title defense. It's a well balanced squad with some sleepers who could make it even better. Grade: A- (Yahoo! Grade: A)

6. the HAW: The CAPS won the Best Draft award, but I'm not ready to crown this team quite yet. They do have a top tier players but the RBs might be a weak link Grade: B+ (Yahoo! Grade: A+)

7. Misfits, Inc: The autodraft bot picked three WRs in a row to start the draft, so that was a little strange. But even stranger is that there are no Eagles on this team. Only division rivals. Grade: C- (Yahoo! Grade: D)

8. Phys. Ed. Phenoms: WOW. I don't think I've ever seen an F given out by Yahoo. I have to disagree with their assessment. Burrow and Metcalf and a decent backfield make me wonder about those calculations. Grade: C- (Yahoo! Grade: F)

9. Spiked Vipers: With two TEs and two Ds the Vipers sure mixed it up this year. They did draft one of those Defenses in the 8th round though. I guess some things stayed the same. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: A-)

10. Dumbbums: Coach Coaldog did ok this year. It's looking like there may be some tough choices to make at QB throughout the season though. Grade: C (Yahoo! Grade: D+)

11. Predacons: Rookie RB? Early(ish) choice of a QB? The Preds went off script this year but maybe that's a good thing. They'll need some luck a the TE position. Grade: C (Yahoo! Grade: C-)

12. Lightning: I'm not saying this team isn't good. I just thing that throwing around multiple A+ grades seems a little much. WRs are iffy. But Mahomes can cover up a lot of things. Grade: A- (Yahoo! Grade: A+)

The Comm-nosticator makes his first predictions soon. Stay tuned.
