3FL Notes: S21: Week 12 Preview

The battle between our two top scoring teams ended up being the lowest scoring game of the week. And there are still zero claimed postseason spots with only three weeks to go.

All teams have now played each other one time and we're back to divisional battles to wrap up the regular season and figure out our playoff seedings. This should be a fun week full of drama and turkey!

Week 11 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: the HAW - 126 points

Player MVPs:
Jonathan Taylor (RB/Ind/P) - 49 points (2nd all-time)
Austin Ekeler (RB/LAC/tH) - 35 points
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB/D) - 33 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 39/66 - 59.09%
Yahoo! Projections: 38/66 - 57.58%

Week 12 Information

Thanksgiving Early: Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions
Thanksgiving Late: Las Vegas Raiders @ Dallas Cowboys
Thanksgiving Night: Buffalo Bills @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday Night: Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens
Monday Night: Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Football Team
Bye Week: Cardinals, Chiefs

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 12:

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
These two teams have matching records and the winner will take sole control of the West Division with only a couple of games left in the regular season. They might also lock in a playoff spot. Jonathan Taylor won't score 49(!) points again this week but the Preds have a slight advantage (even though a majority of their WRs are questionable).

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Our other battle in the West features two teams fighting for the eighth spot. It will be an exciting start today with multiple Thanksgiving players but it won't end until two players from each squad play in the prime time games. The winner might be decided by which coach checks their lineup closest to gametime.

Marauders (-1) vs. Baltimorons
Coach Hoss' team is coming off an uncharacteristically low scoring week but they are still at the top of the standings and comfortably have the points lead. They should get back on track (as 25 point favorites) against the 'Morons and their random assortment of RBs thanks to byes and Os and IRs. A Marauders win would also clinch the East Division.

Renegades (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
Don't look now but the Renegades finally got some players back and have scored 100+ points for two weeks in a row. They're eliminated from postseason play, but there are obviously dinner table bragging rights on the line here. Perhaps they can officially knock PEP out of playoff contention. That would be something to talk about all off-season.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
SpiVi managed to beat our #1 team last week despite a negative kicker total and getting only two points from Patrick Mahomes. Now they get to face our #2 team with Mahomes (and Kelce) on a bye. It won't be easy but this one will be closer than it first appears. And with a player in every single time slot it will also take five days to be decided.

And the game of the week...

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Lighting
Herbert and Ekeler helped the CAPS outscore the league last week with big performances on Sunday night. They're projected to be the high scorers on their team again in this one, but the Bolts will put up a fight with their heavy hitters playing on Thanksgiving day and this Sunday night. It will be even closer if they swap out their bye week kicker.

Happy Thanksgiving and good luck this week!

3FL Notes: S21: Week 11 Preview

Rivalry Week lived up to the hype, giving us a tie (in both the NFL and 3FL), a streak breaker and two MNF comebacks.

With only four games left in the regular season there are still no playoff spots clinched and no team is mathematically eliminated either. It should be a fun sprint to the postseason!

Week 10 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Marauders - 120 points

Player MVPs:
Patrick Mahomes (QB/KC/SV) - 38 points
Deebo Samuel (WR/SF/YB) - 24 points
AJ Dillon (RB/GB/M) - 24 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 36/60 - 60%
Yahoo! Projections: 35/60 - 58.33%

The Comm-nosticator was 0/6 in week 10 predictions. Ouch.

Week 11 Information

Thursday Night: New England Patriots @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday Night: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Los Angeles Chargers
Monday Night: New York Giants @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bye Week: Broncos, Rams

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 11:

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
With their loss in our twin billing game last week the Stompers also lost their hold on the West Division. They might be able to get it back with a win in this unfortunately easy matchup. PEP has had a tough go this season and things aren't any easier this week with their bench full of no help at all.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Both of these teams pulled off late MNF comeback wins last week, and that's a possibility for one of them again here. If Saquon Barkley is back he just might help the Preds do just that. But apparently they didn't learn a lesson from the Cam Newton debacle of last year? He's just a bye week fill-in, but still.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
The 'Morons were half of our first tie of the season last week. According to the projections that could happen again in this one. FitzCorp has a slight edge in the matchups but if they fail to swap our their bye week Defense I get to change my pick. Right?

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Renegades
The Renegades halted their losing streak at eight games, leaving no doubt about it as they posted the biggest blowout of Rivalry Week. That probably won't happen again against the CAPS. They'll need to start big with three players going tonight since prime time will belong to Coach HAW (who will have to root for his Chargers players as they take on his Steelers).

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Both of these teams need a win, but the Bolts need one more. A victory keeps them in the hunt for a postseason spot but a loss will be hard to come back from. The 'Bums do have a lot more Qs to deal with and Cordarrelle Patterson is a game time decision. If he's out that's trouble for Coach Coaldog.

And the game of the week...

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
Our top two scoring teams finally meet in a battle that should be as good as advertised. They have the two highest projected scores of the week and both have a chance to be over the century mark. The Marauders will continue their high flying ways, but don't rule out Patrick Mahomes and SpiVi pulling a MNF comeback and getting their .500 record back on the right track.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S21: Week 10 Preview

A second consecutive clunker of a week gave us our lowest league total in almost two years.

Rivalry Week will have some great matchups but will probably not allow anyone to lock in a playoff spot yet. Things are just too close with only five games to go!

Week 9 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Stiletto Stompers - 121 points

Player MVPs:
James Conner (RB/Ari/SS) - 34 points
Jonathan Taylor (RB/Ind/P) - 31 points
Lamar Jackson (QB/Bal/YB) - 31 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 36/54 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 32/54 - 59.26%

Week 10 Information

Thursday Night: Baltimore Ravens @ Miami Dolphins
Sunday Night: Kansas City Chiefs @ Las Vegas Raiders
Monday Night: Los Angeles Rams @ San Francisco 49ers
Bye Week: Bears, Bengals, Giants, Texans

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for Rivalry Week:

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Predacons
SpiVi lost again last week (to our highest scoring team) and last year's championship game participants enter Rivalry Week with matching records and similar point totals. But we all know what happened in SuperBowl XX. This one will likely have the same result (minus the additions to the record book).

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
This battle will start tonight and feature at least one player in every time slot. The 'Morons have some personnel who might be coming off the IR this week, but the edge will go to the 'Bums if Aaron Rodgers is back. Maybe.

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
The Bolts need a win here to stay in the hunt for the postseason and they just might have the matchups to pull it off. FitzCorp is coming off a week where they scored their lowest total since Rivalry Week of 2017. And they have a lot of work to do to get ready for this one. Can they start a full lineup of players with all those Qs?

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Marauders
Look, it's another amazing matchup! These teams are both projected to score over 100 points this week and have our two highest estimated totals. It just might be our first tie of the year. The biggest question is if either Seahawk on the IR will return for this game.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
The Brew Crew has been steady in second place for a while now. Can they stay there (or even move up)? Don't let the records–or the fact that PEP has nobody available on the bench–fool you. As long as those Qs disappear by Sunday this is the upset special of the week.

And the game of the week...

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Renegades
This has to be the GOTW, right? The standings don't matter. This is another great matchup and things look even across their lineups. The additional storyline is that the Renegades have lost eight in a row. Another L here would put them into a tie at the top of our list of longest losing streaks of all time, matching their own streak and one from...the Stompers of course.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S21: Week 9 Preview

Our top two teams lost, the West Division swept their games, and our lowest scoring week since last November compressed the standings a bit.

Now the difference between the first seed and missing the playoffs is only three games with six to go.

Week 8 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Predacons - 109 points

Player MVPs:
Josh Allen (QB/Buf/L) - 27 points
Matthew Stafford (QB/LAR/P) - 24 points
Michael Carter (RB/NYJ/L) - 22 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 32/48 - 66.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 28/48 - 58.33%

Week 9 Information

Thursday Night: New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday Night: Tennessee Titans @ Los Angeles Rams
Monday Night: Chicago Bears @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Bye Week: Buccaneers, Football Team, Lions, Seahawks

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 9:

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
QBs are an issue this week for both of these teams so things will look a little different than their usual lineups. And with at least 6 combined players in prime time games, everyone will have to stay up late to see who earns the victory to move closer to a playoff qualifying spot.

Marauders (-1) vs. Lightning
Our top team picked up their second loss of the season last week (by only 1 point) but it didn't have to be that way. The Marauders failed to start an active QB after Dak was ruled out late for week 8 with an injury. Josh Allen will post a big number for the Bolts this week but it doesn't look like they'll be able to keep up.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Renegades
Derrick Henry's injury is a big blow to the great season the Brew Crew has put together. They also have some matchup issues and their top WR on a bye this week, opening the door for a Renegades upset. But that will only be possible if Christian McCaffrey is back and Coach Val checks her lineup before tonight's game starts.

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
These two have the same record and their teams are just about even across the board this week (if Davante Adams returns to the field). But the only two RBs with scheduled games for the Corporation have red Qs beside their names. That will be something to keep an eye on.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
The Preds were the only team to score more than 100 points last week but it's possible that both of these teams can pass the century mark here. It should be a close matchup throughout the week. Thursday night games haven't been great for the Predacons this year but they'll need a head start tonight and a solid QB and K performance on SNF to get a win.

And the game of the week...

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
It's been a strange season for SpiVi in 2021. They've lost games they probably should have won, and they've won games when they scored half of their projected total for the week. Can Mahomes and Kelce get back on track this week? Or will the Stompers (and all their Cooks) pull an upset and leapfrog SpiVi in the standings?

Good luck this week.
