3FL Notes: S16: Week 4 Preview

After only three weeks the Marauders are our lone undefeated team. And we still have two teams without any victories this season. Things will get even more interesting this week.

Remember that the byes are starting. And don't forget about the game in Old England at 9:30am EDT on Sunday. Set your players in that matchup before it begins.

Week 3 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Yuengling Brewers - 103 points

Player MVPs:
Kansas City Chiefs Defense (PEP) - 34 points
Marvin Jones, Jr. (WR/Det/P) - 32 points
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB/B) - 30 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 10/18 - 55.56%
League Voting: 8/18 - 44.44%
Yahoo! Projections: 8/18 - 44.44%

I know the Thursday deadline every week is silly, but go vote!

Week 4 Information
Thursday Night: Miami Dolphins @ Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday Morning (London): Indianapolis Colts @ Jax Jaguars
Sunday Night: Kansas City Chiefs @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Monday Night: New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings
Bye Week: Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 4:

Lightning (-1/2) vs. Renegades
This would be an exciting matchup to watch if it wasn't such a depressing situation. One of these two will remain winless through our first four weeks. That's hard to recover from. On the bright side, one of them is assured their first win, so there's that. Or they could tie I guess. Ugh.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Phys. Ed. Phenoms
This should be a good battle and a high scoring affair provided these two can navigate around all the Qs and Os this week. Le'Veon Bell is back on the field for the Steelers and the Preds, giving them the slightest of advantages.

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
The Brew Crew passed the century mark in scoring last week and they look to build on that performance, while the 'Bums saw their MNF comeback stalled with only two points to go. This one will also come down to Monday night, when Eli Manning leads the Brewers to a W.

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
The Stompers took their first loss last week, but they remain third in the league in the standings (and in scoring). SpiVi looks to try to recapture the magic from two weeks ago and their matchups are favorable. But that bench is an absolute mess.

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. the HAW
If you came here to see an epic QB matchup of Rodgers vs. Brady you will be sadly disappointed. One is on a bye and the other one is still suspended. Dak Prescott and Sam Bradford for the win!

And the game of the week...

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
Our top two teams collide in this battle for early season league supremacy. This should be a great one to watch, as each of these teams has scored 300 points or more in our first three weeks. Can the Corporation hand Coach Hoss his first loss? Or will OBJ keep the Marauders undefeated with his MNF performance?

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S16: Week 3 Preview

Another exciting week of games saw a second straight FitzCorp MNF comeback, jumping them to the top of the league (with a 118.5 points per week average). Can they continue that streak?

Get ready for the last of our first set of intra-divisional games and the final full-roster games before the bye weeks start!

Week 2 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Stiletto Stompers - 119 points

Player MVPs:
Cam Newton (QB/Car/SV) - 30 points
Derek Carr (QB/Oak/PEP) - 24 points
Carson Palmer (QB/Ari/MI) - 24 points

The 3FL Records page is now current and will be updated as new records are broken. Our First Era Records page is also live (if you want to revisit the good old days).

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 6/12 - 50%
League Voting: 6/12 - 50%
Yahoo! Projections: 6/12 - 50%

Go vote! Seriously - only one team voted last week. I'll probably turn off the voting option if nobody votes this week.

Week 3 Information

Thursday Night: Houston Texans @ New England Patriots
Sunday Night: Chicago Bears @ Dallas Cowboys
Monday Night: Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints
Bye Week: None until next week

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 3:

Yuengling Brewers (-1/2) vs. Lightning
The Bolts have not gotten off to a great start and things are cloudy again this week with all of those Ds and Qs. This one will gain momentum late, with most of the players not taking the field until after the 1pm games are over.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. the HAW
After just two weeks of games FitzCorp has scored 100 more points than the HAW. They shouldn't look past this important division matchup, though, as the winner will be atop of the North (for the time being anyway). Can Alshon Jeffery make it three MNF comebacks in a row for the Corporation?

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
Two of our three undefeated teams meet here to determine who will remain without a loss to start the season. The Stompers outscored everyone last week and posted the biggest blowout in the process, but this week will be much more difficult because of their matchups.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
Thursday night will be big for SpiVi and could foretell the result of this one. After that their players are finished after the 1pm Sunday games while PEP still has at least four going in the late games. I smell a comeback.

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. Predacons
After a record breaking week one, the Preds scored less than half as many points last week. Which team will show up against the 'Bums? All eyes will be on Coby Fleener (really) on MNF to see which team can try to keep up with the Stompers in the West.

And the game of the week...

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Renegades
When Coach Drew ended up with Antonio Brown and Aaron Rodgers after the draft did anyone imagine that they would be 0-2 to begin the season? The Renegades look like they will be starting their third different QB in three weeks and have been bitten by the injury bug all over the lineup. I know it's only 0-3, but the loser here will have an uphill battle to qualify for the playoffs.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S16: Week 2 Preview

Our first week with the new "10 yards per point" rule obliterated a bunch of our old records, so in the next few days we'll archive the old superlatives (since we're going to forget all about them soon). It will be a fond memory of our first fifteen years - the records of the first 3FL first era.

Week 2 is bound to break some more of those.

Week 1 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Predacons - 138 points

Player MVPs:
Andrew Luck (QB/Ind/P) - 35 points
Drew Brees (QB/NO/SS) - 30 points
DeAngelo Williams (RB/Pit/B) - 28 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 2/6 - 33.33%
League Voting: 1/6 - 16.67%
Yahoo! Projections: 2/6 - 33.33%

Go vote!

Week 2 Information

Thursday Night: New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday Night: Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
Monday Night: Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears
Bye Week: None until week 4

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 2:

Spiked Vipers (-1) vs. Yuengling Brewers
The Brew Crew looks to shore up the early lead in the South Division with a victory here but that's easier said than done. Cam Newton and SpiVi look to rebound from a tough week 1 and the matchups are in their favor.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Lightning
FitzCorp secured a comeback victory in the wee hours of MNF last week, and now they get to play the team that scored half as many points last week. A healthy Gronk would help, but it's looking like Monday night will secure another win for the Corporation.

the HAW (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
The CAPS earned a victory last week and are well on their way to powering through the Tom Brady four game suspension. Their overstock of good RBs is bound to result in a wrong decision, but it still could be enough to edge by the medium strength matchups of the 'Bums.

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Marauders
The Maruaders are at the top of the East for the time being, but that's only because the 'Morons scored 123 points and lost last week. Everything here will come down to Sunday night. Coach Drew will just have to hope that the Packers spread the wealth around.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Renegades
I'm not sure I'd want to be in the Renegades/Phenoms house this weekend. Both are already 0-1 in their respective divisions and one of them will be 0-2 overall to start the season after this week. At least the 4pm Sunday games will make things interesting for both sides.

And the game of the week...

Stiletto Stompers (-1/2) vs. Predacons
The Preds set the record for most points ever scored by one team in a week - by 12 points. And they didn't even vote for the new rules. That won't happen again, especially since the Stompers are fielding the best team they've had in years.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S16: Week 1 Preview

Can the Baltimorons win a fourth SuperBowl title? Will most of the league keep a generic Yahoo! helmet as a logo? Does a single rule change spell the end of the league records as we know them? Only the 3FL season will have these answers...

It all starts tomorrow night!
Remember to have your starting lineups set 5 minutes before the games begin this week. Any players in the Panthers vs. Broncos game will be locked in whichever lineup position you have them at 8:25pm EDT tomorrow night.

Voting is up and running for the season. Make sure you vote on all the 3FL games before the beginning of tomorrow's NFL game.

Here we go!

Week 1 Information

Thursday Night: Carolina Panthers @ Denver Broncos
Sunday Night: New England Patriots @ Arizona Cardinals
Monday Night Early: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Washington Redskins
Monday Night Late: Los Angeles Rams @ San Francisco 49ers
Bye Week: None until week 4

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 1:
The first week is always the toughest to predict, but here goes...

Dumbbums (-1) vs. Stiletto Stompers
Defense vs. Defense on Thursday night will be exciting, but this one will come down to the strength of the 'Bums RBs. Also, only one player in this whole matchup has a game after 1pm on Sunday. Weird.

Lightning (-1/2) vs. the HAW
This one will be super close until the Steelers wrap up the early game on Monday night. LA's Defense will just be some late night icing on the cake.

Baltimorons (-2) vs. Misfits, Inc.
Only four players in the entire league are projected to put up more points than the 'Moron's Antonio Brown this week. One of those players is Aaron Rodgers. He is also a Baltimoron. Uh oh.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Spiked Vipers
SpiVi will be off to a quick start this week, with a third of their players in the Thursday night kickoff game. Things here are set to wrap up on Sunday night, leaving both coaches to just sit back and enjoy the double matchup on MNF.

Phys. Ed. Phenoms (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
Claiming the Toyota Best Draft is one thing. Now PEP will try to win in week one against an auto-drafted team. Interesting. Coach Greg is projected to score more than 90 points but the Brew Crew will make it close.

And the game of the week...

Marauders (-1/2) vs. Renegades
What a matchup this will be for our first GotW. These teams are even across the board, but will Coach Hoss choose the right QB? And will Jordy Nelson play for the whole game?

Good luck in Week 1 and for the rest of Season 16!

3FL Notes: 2016 Draft Analysis

Most of our teams were represented during the online draft on Tuesday night. Here is an analysis of the results (in draft order):

1. Baltimorons: The 'Morons are ready to defend the title, as Coach Drew grabbed AB with the first choice and managed to get Aaron Rodgers at QB. He also has five RBs to pick from. Grade: B+ (Yahoo! Grade: B)

2. Marauders: Coach Hoss was solid in the draft and should be in good shape this year as long as the Chargers' offense performs at a decent level. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: B)

3. Renegades: Being able to stay awake for the whole draft was the main goal, but the Renegades managed to draft a decent team too. They have to hope that no one gets hurt though. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: C)

4. Misfits, Inc.: This is a very different looking FitzCorp team than usual. They drafted a suspended K, are waiting on an injured TE, and only have one Philadelphia Eagle. But maybe that's a good shakeup? Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: C+)

5. Phys. Ed. Phenoms: PEP managed to earn the Toyota Best Draft to start their sophomore season, and don't get me wrong, this team is going to be good. But the BEST? We'll have to see about that. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: A-)

6: Yuengling Brewers: Auto Draft got a workout for the Brew Crew once again and it did a pretty good job. They have maybe the best WR corps in the league and only one kicker this time! Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: B)

7: Spiked Vipers: Phone drafting while engaging in a sports activity might not be for everyone, but it worked out for SpiVi this year. At least until the 9th round or so. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: C+)

8: Stiletto Stompers: Coach Bev is solid at the top of the skilled positions but she may have reached a little at DEF and K. And I'll admit that I don't know any of the players on her bench. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: B-)

9: Dumbbums: The 'Bums weren't available to draft and they elected not to have any daughters-in-law draft for them. Because of that they ended up with two TEs, two Ds, and a lot of red Qs. Grade: B- (Yahoo! Grade: B)

10: Lightning: Coach Thad also ended up with two TEs (even though he was online the whole time). But one of them is Gronk. The Bolts look solid except for maybe an RB2. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: B-)

11: the HAW: It seemed like a wacky draft for the CAPS this time, but the sum came together at the end to be better than its parts. And look out after week 5 when Brady is back. Grade: B (Yahoo! Grade: B)

12: Predacons: The Preds chose a QB before the 10th round for the first time in a long time. And the skilled positions are pretty solid, especially after Le'Veon Bell returns. This team might just be good enough to be our runner-up once again. Grade: B+ (Yahoo! Grade: B)

The Comm-nosticator makes his first predictions soon. Stay tuned.

All In for 2016 & Ballot Results

The votes have been tallied and everything is staying the same - except for rushing/receiving yards per point. This season we will change the rules to give 1 point for every 10 yards rushing or receiving. It will be a trial year to figure out if we like this method or if we want to go back to the old way. Or if we want to change everything and go all in with Yahoo's default scoring.

Make sure you keep this new scoring rule in mind for the draft which will take place tomorrow, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH @ 9PM.

The divisions and draft order are set and our custom schedule matrix is updated (thanks to SpreadsheetGeek). Week 10 will be Rivalry Week.

Good luck this season!
