3FL Notes: S11: Week 4 Preview

The streak continues! With last week's victory Coach Haw has won nine in a row, which is tied for second place all time.

And how about that South Division? They swept the East in week two and the South last week. After our first three weeks all three teams are undefeated, posting a combined 8-0-1 record. Someone will earn their first loss this week, though - here come the intra-divisional games!

Week 3 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Baltimorons - 86 points

Player MVPs:
Drew Brees (QB/NO) - 25 points
Joe Flacco (QB/Bal) - 24 points

League Voting: 5/18 - 27.78%
Yahoo! Projections: 8/18 - 44.44%

We had 10/12 teams vote last week. Go vote now while you're thinking about it!

Week 4 Information

Sunday Night: New York Jets @ Baltimore Ravens
Monday Night: Indianapolis Colts @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bye Week: None until week 5

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 4:

Dumbbums (-1/2) vs. The Comfy Chair
Would it be strange if the Defenses of these two scored the most points on either team? It could definitely happen. It won't be pretty, but it will be a great matchup to keep track of this week.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Renegades
The Renegades just can't catch a break this year. Even with Tom Brady at the controls. This week is no different, with FitzCorp getting a slight edge on the matchups. Still, everyone will have to stay up on Monday night to know for sure how it ends.

Yuengling Brewers (-1) vs. Lightning
This one shouldn't even be close. Everything is leaning toward the Brew Crew making it a little out of hand. Which can only mean that it will instead come down to the wire. That's why they play the game.

Marauders (-1/2) vs. ray ray haw
The Haw are going for their 10th straight win, but the Marauders have other ideas. Can Coach Hoss stop the streak before it reaches double digits? He'll have to watch Schaub do well against the Steelers for that to happen. Oh, well.

Baltimorons (-1/2) vs. Predacons
Who will earn the South Division's first blemish? These teams are within 5 total points on the season and this matchup will be even closer. The Preds few injury tweaks will be the difference, giving way to a Freeman led comeback on MNF.

And the game of the week...

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
These two will rely on their high flying QBs in an effort to take the top spot in the East Division. The Stompers will be looking for a Britt replacement, but this one will all come down to Sunday night.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S11: Week 3 Preview

What a week!

The league scored 884 points - crushing our old record (855 points) for most league points scored in a week. And speaking of records, Coach Haw's winning streak has reached 8 games.

Week 2 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Marauders - 110 points

Player MVPs:
Matthew Stafford (QB/Det) - 27 points
Tom Brady (QB/NE) - 26 points
Miles Austin (WR/Dal) - 25 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 6/12 - 50%
League Voting: 3/12 - 25%
Yahoo! Projections: 6/12 - 50%

25%? Yikes. Go vote!

Week 3 Information

Sunday Night: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts
Monday Night: Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
Bye Week: None until week 5

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 3:

The Comfy Chair (-1) vs. Stiletto Stompers
These two teams match up evenly across the board, until you compare the RBs. That's enough of an edge to give the Chair their first victory of the year. 1-1-1 has a ring to it.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Lightning
After an incredible prime time comeback and a bunch of new injuries you might wonder if the Preds have anything left for this week. But the Lightning have their own problems with players sitting out Wednesday's practice. And they will probably vote for themselves.

Yuengling Brewers (-1) vs. Dumbbums
The five WRs on the 'Bums squad have scored a total of 17 points in our season's first two weeks. And two of them may not play this week (someone please tell Coach Coaldog). The Brewers have only four WRs, and they have scored 39 points so far. That's all you need to know here.

ray ray haw (-1/2) vs. Renegades
What else can happen to the newlyweds this season? For the second straight year they have lost one of their top two picks to a season ending injury in one of the first two weeks. At least they'll have Tom Brady to ease their pain as they try to halt the (tied for) fifth longest winning streak in league history.

Spiked Vipers (-1/2) vs. Marauders
Coach Hoss scored 110 points last week and won by more than 30 points. This matchup will be much closer, with Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Defense trying to edge SpiVi past the league's top scoring team.

And the game of the week...

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Baltimorons
This one will come down to the QB decisions. Both teams have two good ones to pick from, but who will choose correctly? It will also come down to the 'Fitz making a comeback try on Monday night. It should be just enough.

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S11: Week 2 Preview

Another week one tie? Yep. And a bunch of injuries, too. Looks like we're in for another crazy year in the 3FL.

Week 1 Recap

Top Scoring 3FL Team: Stiletto Stompers - 88 points

Player MVPs:
Tom Brady (QB/NE) - 32 points
Drew Brees (QB/NO) - 26 points
Aaron Rodgers (QB/GB) - 24 points

Predictions Tally

The Comm-nosticator: 3/6 - 50%
League Voting: 2/6 - 33.33%
Yahoo! Projections: 3/6 - 50%

I told you the first week was the hardest to predict...

Go vote!

Week 2 Information

Sunday Night: Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons
Monday Night: Saint Louis Rams @ New York Giants
Bye Week: None until week 5

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 2:

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Scoring the least points in the league in week 1 will get you a change at QB and a hot commodity off of the waiver wire. That should be enough to turn around the Corp against the 'Bums, who might not react to Colston's collarbone surgery until too late.

Spiked Vipers (-1) vs. Baltimorons
Wow. The Vipers look tough (and the Steelers D won't score -2 against Seattle this week). The injury bug has bitten the Baltimorons harder than any other team so far. It won't be pretty.

The Comfy Chair (-1) vs. Lightning
After a MNF comeback to tie last week, the Chair is poised to continue the momentum. Still, there are a lot of P's, Q's, and D's between these two. We'll have to see who makes it onto the field.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Yuengling Brewers
It's really a question of which WR with a Q will actually play. And things won't be settled until prime time, with each team holding two for the late games.

ray ray haw (-1) vs. Stiletto Stompers
The defending champ scored more than 70 points last week. Without a starting RB. This week - with Arian Foster slated to return - it's not hard to see an 8th straight win for the Coach Haw (tying himself for fifth on the all time list).

And the game of the week...

Renegades (-1/2) vs. Marauders
Last week the Renegades came up two points shy of what would have been an incredible comeback. They'll have to try again in this one, with a K and Defense poised to play after the Marauders are done. Is Moreno out? Will Coach Hoss start a full lineup?

Good luck this week.

3FL Notes: S11: Week 1 Preview

The 11th 3FL season begins tonight!

Can ray ray haw defend the title and and win a fourth championship? Will the Lightning finally play in the big game? Do the Marauders remember where they put their logo? Will anyone else sign up for a Twitter account? Only the 3FL season will have the answers...

It all starts on Thursday night!
Remember to have your starting lineups set 5 minutes before the games begin this week. Any players in the Saints vs. Packers game will be locked in whichever lineup position you have them at 8:25pm EDT on Thursday.

Coach Thadtotti once again put together our customized schedule. This year divisional games will be played in weeks 4-6 and 11-13 and week 10 will again our rivalry week. Thanks, spreadsheetgeek.

Voting is up and running for the season - make sure you vote on all the 3FL games before the beginning of tonight's NFL game.

Here we go!

Week 1 Information

Thursday Night: New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers
Sunday Night: Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets
Monday Night Early: New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
Monday Night Late: Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos
Bye Week: None until week 5

And now the Comm-nosticator’s predictions for week 1:
The first week is always the toughest to predict, but here goes...

The Comfy Chair (-1) vs. Baltimorons
Will Peyton Manning have more neck surgeries than completions this season? Maybe. Josh Freeman will fill in admirably, but it will probably not be enough for Coach Drew to pull out a victory this week.

Predacons (-1/2) vs. Marauders
This matchup puts the first pick in the draft against the last. Things look about even, and points by the defenses may end up being the difference. Both teams will have to wait as the Predacons try to mount a comeback with three players in the late Monday game.

Renegades (-1) vs. Yuengling Brewers
It's a shame we have to wait until Monday night to watch Tom Brady sure things up for the newlyweds. But Matthew Stafford and Philly's D will make this closer than you might think.

Misfits, Inc. (-1/2) vs. Stiletto Stompers
Drew Brees will set the tone early for the Stompers in what looks to be a great game. The big question is if Sydney Rice will be healthy this weekend. Most of the matchups go slightly toward the Corp, though, and they are hoping for a strong Sunday at 1pm.

Spiked Vipers (-1) vs. Lightning
So the Vipers are rumored to have had the best draft. That will be put to the test against Jay Cutler and the Bolts this week. Wait. Jay Cutler? Nevermind. At least Chris Johnson might be able to keep it from getting out of hand.

And the game of the week...

ray ray haw (-1/2) vs. Dumbbums
Arian Foster says he'll be ready for week 1, if you believe his tweet. I'm sure the haw are concerned with him as a person. Anyway, they also need to decide which TE to play. The PIT/BAL game will weigh heavily on the outcome of this game, so you might want to watch it.

Good luck in Week 1 and for the rest of Season 11!

3FL Notes: 2011 Draft Analysis

Eleven of our twelve teams were in attendance for the online draft on Thursday night. Here is an analysis of the results (in draft order):

1. Marauders: The drive home and a slow booting computer contributed to Coach Hoss not being present for the first pick in the draft. He missed it by mere seconds. But autopick selected Adrian Peterson, so that's not all bad. The rest of team (that he actively chose) is pretty good, too. Grade: B+

2. Lightning: All of those spreadsheets led to a pretty strong team in the middle. Waiting until the seventh round to draft a QB led to Sam Bradford as the starter. Grade: B

3. Spiked Vipers: The Toyota Best Draft Award (given by Yahoo! to the team projected to score the most points this year) went to the Vipers. I won't go that far, but their position-early draft strategy gave them a stronger team than predicted. Grade: A-

4. ray ray haw: The defending champ flew under the radar again and ended up with a much better team than anyone thought at the time. If it wasn't for those two tight ends back-to-back, we might already be talking about a fourth championship for Coach Haw. Grade: A-

5. Dumbbums: Coach Coaldog was present at the draft this year and his team looks nothing like it did a year ago. Other than Roethlisberger, I mean. Grade: B+

6. Renegades: We're not sure who is running the ship over there in newlywedville, but someone has been studying up. And, also, TOM BRADY. Grade: A-

7. Yuengling Brewers: The computer selected a surprisingly good squad for the Brew Crew. Dare I say maybe even better than if the coach had logged in? Grade: B

8. Baltimorons: They've got some really good WRs and some really big questions marks. If Peyton comes back soon and at full speed no one will question anything else (except for the fact that they neglected to draft a defense). Grade: B-

9. The Comfy Chair: Coach Skrabby ended up with Vick and a bunch of guys with dashes in their names. And Brian St. Pierre. Here's to tradition! Grade: B

10. Misfits, Inc.: The Corp hired two Eagles, four genuine starting RBs, and a QB to WR hookup. Not too shabby. Grade: B+

11. Stiletto Stompers: The whole should be greater than the sum of the Stompers' parts. RBs by committee may be the only frustration, along with having to root for the Ravens' defense. Grade: B

12. Predacons: They did better than you might think from the last spot in the draft. That about sums it up. Grade: B+

The Comm-nosticator makes his first predictions soon. Stay tuned.
