A majority of owners were in attendance and I think everyone had a good time during our online draft. I wish we could keep a transcript of the chat room in the draft application. Anyway, here is an analysis of the results (in draft order):
1. Predacons: Adrian Peterson was the obvious first pick. The rest of the team is filled in nicely and they made Brian St. Pierre the final choice in the draft, so here's to tradition. Grade: B+
2. Marauders: Coach Hoss has to watch Big Ben as a fan and a fantasy coach, so it's a good thing he has some good RBs and WRs. His bench has a lot of upside but not a lot of experience. Whatever that means. Grade: B
3. Misfits, Inc.: OMG. No McNabb. No Eagles at all, actually. The Misfits went a little haywire this year, but I heard a rumor that a trade is already in the works. Relax, people. Grade: B+
4. The Comfy Chair: At least one top quality player at each position will keep the Chair competitive this year. The Steelers Defense doesn't hurt either. But let's hope no one gets injured... Grade: B+
5. Yuengling Brewers: The Brewers stopped in but logged off just before the draft started. It's probably better that way. This team is pretty good, especially if Crabtree actually signs a contract.
Grade: A-
6. Stiletto Stompers: The former Rough Riders are looking to change their momentum and this name change is a start. I wasn't sure during the draft who exactly was picking the players at any given time, but Peyton Manning and MoJo Drew could make the Stompers a contender. Grade: A-
7. Dumbbums: Working third shift doesn't always allow for attendance at a fantasy football draft. Still, the 'Bums are stacked at RB and will be stacked at WR depending on Brandon Marshall's status. Grade: B+
8. Baltimorons: Coach Drew came in with a sound strategy and it paid off. This team flew a little under the radar and are sneaky good. Grade: A-
9. Spiked Vipers: SpiVi didn't pick a defense until round seven this year, so that allowed for a lot more offensive talent to be stockpiled in the early rounds. Brees will win a few games by himself.
Grade: B+
10. Lightning: No spreadsheets this year, but the Lightning managed a decent draft anyway. They're relying heavily on the Packers' special teams and defense to have a good year, but having T.O. and Randy Moss on the same team can't be bad. Grade: B+
11. ray ray haw: A great duo of RBs and a top tier defense will make the haw a force to be reckoned with this year. Steve Breaston caught over 1,000 yards of passes last season and he's on the bench. Grade: A-
12. Renegades: The Renegades actually turned in a quality squad for 2009 being that they had the last pick. And they used every available second on on the draft clock to do it. Grade: B+
The Comm-nosticator makes his first predictions early in the week. Stay tuned.
