3FL Notes: S14: Week 15 (Semifinals) Preview

Two of our quarterfinal games came down to the final seconds of Monday Night Football last week. Hopefully the semifinals are just as exciting. Each division is still represented in the championship bracket and there are going to be some great matchups this week.

All individual team pages (see links on the sidebar) and the 3FL Records have been updated and show statistics through the end of the 2014 regular season. This year's additions to the records page are in bold - and there are a lot of them. Through 1,110 regular season games we have scored a combined 134,875 points.

Semifinal Games
(Winners play in 3FL SuperBowl XIV, losers play for 3rd Place)

#1 the HAW vs. #4 Misfits, Inc.
The CAPS continue to roll this year even though they did get a scare from the Brew Crew last week. But overall this season they have had a lot of Luck (as in Andrew) and a lot of actual luck. Like the quarterfinals MVP and star QB of FitzCorp getting into a freak car accident in the middle of the week. The Corporation has been on the opposite side of that luck after an amazing MNF comeback to get here. Anything can happen of course, but all of those injuries (during football games and otherwise) are going to make it tough against the high-flying HAW. A Misfits win would be the upset of the playoffs.

#2 Predacons vs. #6 Baltimorons
There was no drama in these teams' quarterfinal games. Both beat their opponents by 40 points last week. The Preds waited until the postseason to put up their highest point total of the year while the 'Morons got off to a good start and never let their foot off the gas. There will be drama in this one, though, as the matchups look pretty even. The equalizer will be all of those Qs and the 2 players who are out for the year and taking up space on the Baltimorons' bench. Thursday night's Defenses will start things off but prime time will be where things are decided.

Consolation Games
(Winners play for 5th Place, losers play for 7th)

#3 Spiked Vipers vs. #7 Lightning
Neither of these two put up much of a fight last week as the Bolts scored almost 20 points less than their projection and SpiVi put up their lowest total of the entire year. It's a shame that their postseason started like that, but it does give us a great matchup in the consolation bracket. Brady and Rivers are poised to get back on track and the two best TEs in the game will make things interesting until the very end of the week.

#5 Dumbbums vs. #8 Yuengling Brewers
Oh so close. Both of these teams made things exciting on Monday night. The 'Bums were ahead going into that game but had to watch their opponent's WR put up record breaking numbers. And the Brewers saw Eddie Lacy bring them all the way back to within 3 points of the top seed before being subbed out with an injury. Also, Peyton Manning was -1 last week. For real. That won't happen again and the Dumbbums are going to get back to putting up big numbers. It will just be one week too late.

Good luck this week. The SuperBowl awaits!
